The Long Island mother accused of killing her young son in a wrong-way crash while she was driving high on methamphetamines had her license suspended for the 57th time during her arraignment Wednesday afternoon, prosecutors said.
Suffolk County Judge Richard I. Horowitz ordered the suspension of Kerri Bedrick’s driver’s license until the conclusion of the case and held the 32-year-old in custody without bail after she pleaded not guilty to murder charges during her arraignment.
Bedrick’s license was already suspended on Aug. 22 when she drove the wrong way on the Southern State Parkway around 2:15 a.m. and caused a four-car wreck that killed her 9-year-old son, authorities said.
A deputy sheriff tried to pull over Bedrick when he initially spotted her going the wrong way, but she went faster and drove around the deputy’s vehicle, prosecutors said.

The solution to problems like this is simple. Defense attorneys that lie, obfuscate, etc. and get the guilty off with little or no consequences should have their licenses suspended for a certain period of time if the perpetrator does the same thing again. Judges who refuse to impose realistic penalties for the guilty should be suspended from the bench for a period of time and pass through a review board to return to judicial duties if the guilty party does the same thing again. Why should feckless behavior by attorneys and judges be tolerated?
No mention of the dead child’s dad in any of the articles I’ve looked at.
Did the perp have a miraculous pregnancy?
57 times is really not that much if you think about it.
And per the above a DWI conviction in 2012.
Now I’m asking myself...
What did local Child Protection Services know and when did they know it?
A Massachusetts man (Robert LaPointe) had 19 violations before he ran over and killed two boaters at Long Lake, Maine.
The collision caused him and his underaged female passenger to be ejected from his speedboat, which continued for a half-mile before climbing an embankment before halting within a group of neighbors enjoying a BBQ cookout.

Give her SOME credit. She legally obtained her license 56 times, she’s no quitter.
“Apparently, in NY, you can get MULTIPLE suspensions at the same time, whatever that means.”
Yes, certain traffic violations require your license be suspended, irrespective of whether it is already suspended or not. Also not answering a ticket and accumulating too many points are also suspensions.
Having multiple suspensions means more fees for the DMV, which charges you a fee for each suspension that gets lifted.
I believe a suspension can be any length 90 days or greater. Unless and until you take care of all tickets and pay all associated lift fees, however, the suspension stays.
“Give her SOME credit. She legally obtained her license 56 times, she’s no quitter.”
Nothing implied that she has ever had her license reinstated.
“57 license suspensions in 32 years? That’s not possible.”
It is in NY. Just ignore 57 traffic tickets, get 57 suspensions.
“Suffolk County Judge Richard I. Horowitz ordered the suspension of Kerri Bedrick’s driver’s license until the conclusion of the case”
WHAT!? Is the judge trying for a record number of suspensions (and innocent people killed) before this woman ends up killing herself, with drugs or in a car?!?
This woman’s license should be suspended in perpetuity regardless of the case.
It’s just an automatic preliminary suspension. Permanent punishment will be part of the disposition of the case, which presumably will include permanent revocation.
IF you get a driver license at age 16 and she is only 32-—
That means that she has only been ‘driving’ for 16 years.
16 years X 12 months==192 months...
192 Divided by 57==EVERY 3.37 months, she has had her license suspended.
I am 84. Been driving since 16. Have driven OVER 1 million Miles-—PUT OVER 444,000 miles on just one vehicle I owned alone.
NEVER HAD an accident-—NEVER got license suspended.
Quit high speed driving over 40 years ago.
AVERAGES every 3.7 Mo this.
DO THE MATH
HOW MANY PEOPLE HERE ON FR HAVE NEVER HAD A SUSPENSION???
HAVE NOT HAD ANY SUCH AT ALL.
After one or two suspensions some judge would pull her license forever or 10 years or whatever.
License suspension is serious in my book. It's not murder or treason, but it's a sign of reckless or drunk driving.
So we have a dead innocent child here, and an out-of-control alky who is driving.
Permissiveness by judges, etc.,(a goal of socialism if it pertains to lawlessness as in this case) strikes again.
We, the normals, need to set the bar. How high? Till the libs and commies squeal. Then ever higher.
Otherwise we live in our status quo sewer. Are we liking that? No.
