We were in Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper and Lake Maligne a year ago and loved it. So we came back and are splurging on the great hotels this year.
We hiked the Bow River in Banff last year. It was wonderful because a short walk out of town got us into some gorgeous country past the Banff Springs Hotel.
We just spent two days at Waterton and spotted a male Bighorn Sheep, a female black bear and her cub. The sheep are coming down to lower elevations now that most of the tourists are gone.
A great great uncle homesteaded on the Bow River at Bow Island east of Lethbridge around 1910!
That’s very exciting! Imagine homesteading out there....just incredible!
The Banff Springs is beautiful (at least it was 55 years ago lol). We had to wear our Scottish uniforms with the plaid pleated skirts and the little short jackets and white gloves. Old elevators with the big wheel we had to turn to run them. We had to land them perfectly even....can’t have the customers tripping! I gave an elevator ride to Alfred Hitchcock....and Simon and Garfunkel.
Enjoy - I think the Chateau Lake Louise is still around. Those hotels used to be CP (Canadian Pacific) hotels, owned by the railroad company. They’re all beautiful.
