Katy ISD board votes to ban books about gender identity from many school libraries

Tompkins High School student Travis Thornton held up a copy of "Mein Kampf," the 1925 manifesto published by Adolf Hitler, saying it had been checked out of the school library.

The book written by the former dictator of Germany and leader of the Nazi Party, who started World War II and oversaw the genocide of millions of Jews, is available to students in Katy ISD. As of Monday night, though, students like Thornton must get parental permission to access books that touch on gender identity – while elementary and junior high students in the district will not even be able to find them in their school libraries.

The Katy ISD board of trustees, with a 5-0 vote and two abstentions, implemented a library policy that bans books "adopting, supporting, or promoting gender fluidity." The measure also applies to district vendors and those who hold book fairs for Katy ISD, which serves more than 90,000 students in a burgeoning suburb west of Houston.

This is just an excuse to push pornography into school libraries. Filthy perverts.

Mein Kampf has historical significance as studying it can help one understand how Hitler rose to power.

Books on gender confusion, not so much.

Public libraries and school libraries make decisions all the time about what content to carry. For public libraries it may be based on space constraints, relevancy to the community, and reader demand. School libraries since they are designed to serve minor must take into account age appropriateness and the wishes of the parents of students.

“Mein Kampf’’ is the most convoluted, incoherent, incomprehensible and just plain turgid pile of bullsh!t ever put to print.

Gaddafi's "The Green Book" is the second.

Meanwhile, in another part of the state, there's federal courts ordering another library around as to what books they should have in their library - https://www.kxan.com/llano-county/former-llano-county-librarian-can-move-forward-with-lawsuit-federal-judge-rules/

Check out Alfred Rosenberg's “The Myth Of The Twentieth Century’’.

A book so unreadable even Hitler said he couldn't understand it.

And that was from the guy who wrote what has to be the most unreadable crap ever published. A historic footnote here, Hitler's original title was "My Four Year Struggle Against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice''. It was Hitler's cellmate, his soon to become dim witted deputy Rudolf Hess who suggested shortening it to "Mein Kampf'', much to the delight of publisher's I'm sure.

Yeah, right. The only two words Adolf Hitler ever got right in his stupid book was his name.

No. Children should never be exposed to pornography. There is nothing redeeming or enlightening in porn.

Hitler and Mao's manifesto's, yes. With proper context provided to show that these are the evil intentions and polices from two of the last centuries most evil and diabolical tyrants.

I had a hand in voting these folks in. We threw three of the libtards off the board last year.

The five who voted for this are in the majority and the two that abstained are the remaining libtards that just barely got reelected by the skin of their teeth.

They are listening to the voters because voting against this crap was what they ran on. I couldn’t be more proud that I helped get them elected.

We aren't having a political party in the US pushing the Ernst Röhm story hour. Although Röhm might show up for the drag queen story hour.

And who will be providing the 'proper context'? The Department of Education and the NEA? They are completely infiltrated by Marxist and Maoist and they are in charge of approved curriculum.

No, they have already demonstrated their intention to indoctrinate our kids. Until such time as we rid our schools of such people we have no choice but to regulate the content they can present in class.

The left loves regulation, lets jam it down their throat.

They're banning from many not all of their schools. Middle schools and elementary schools will not have the books, high schools will have them available with parental permission. Katy ISD isn't banning books from Amazon.
