I suspect Prof. Turley is right. Zuckerberg’s motives are less than noble.
On August 27, my American Thinker colleague Monica Showalter posted Zuckerberg admits he was muscled by Democrats. She asked:
Did a light bulb go on for Mark Zuckerberg about government censorship?
Zuckerberg’s admission, a sort of mushy mea culpa, came as he was under pressure from the House Judiciary Committee to produce all manner of documents proving what he admitted in a letter to the Committee, and so much more. The letter may be found here. The Committee notes three primary Zuckerberg admissions:

Constitutional law professor and scholar Jonathan Turley notes Zuckerberg’s confession is more “contrived than contrite:”
For those of us who have criticized Facebook for years for its role in the massive censorship system, Zuckerberg’s belated contrition was more insulting than inspiring. It had all of the genuine regret of a stalker found hiding under the bed of a victim.
Zuckerberg’s sudden regret only came after his company fought for years to conceal the evidence of its work with the government to censor opposing views. Zuckerberg was finally compelled to release the documents by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and the House Judiciary Committee.
Now forced to admit what many of us have long alleged, Zuckerberg is really, really sorry.
Note, please, the sarcasm inherent in Turley’s last sentence. He ends his essay with this:
.Democracy is not on the ballot in 2024, as many have claimed, but free speech is.

Zuckerberg knows he interfered in the 2020 election and prevented a Trump blowout that the cheating could not have overcome. He is trying to stay out of prison.
I hope he fails.
“He is trying to stay out of prison.”
He’s a faithful head of an organ, I don’t think he has to worry about prison.
Also, he’s still doing it and has fired up his Zuckerbucks program.
I think he’s angling to lie like a rug about Trump and when Trump calls him on it he will say “never again will I be pressured to censor”.
I think he’s just setting up to play the other way.
Look! I’ve come clean! Pay no attention to my current efforts to put Harris Walz in office.
This weasel is performing for the cameras. He’s putting on an act. He is not sincere. He willingly cooperated with the corrupt democrats in conscious violation of the Constitution.
He and the entire democrat administration should be in jail for life.
I agree. Weasel, performing for the cameras. Disgusting.
He’s ACT-ing.
Saying he is "Really, Really sorry" has a bit different meaning here in the Southland and many folks hereabouts would say that he is, indeed, pretty sorry.
Damage has already been done and they know there will be no accountability for their illegal activities. They are responsible for the damage unleashed in this country these last few years under the deep state control. Our freedoms and liberties are on the line come November if they should be successful in placing their select in the WH.
He won’t be pressured again because it is not necessary. He is all in with the censorship and does not need any more “pressuring.”
I have noticed a big uptick in censored Facebook posts that describe the content of the post as misinformation, or unproven, or violent or whatever.
Then you go ahead and click, and it is a Bald Eagle, or the American Flag and a few motivational words.
It is obvious and blatant censorship.
“...He is trying to stay out of prison.”
A case of the handwriting being on the wall.
Probably has something to do with POTUS Trump’s new book coming out. POTUS Trump did tell Zuckie if you ever interfere in an election again, he would receive the death sentence.
They have been caught, they know it, and it is why they will cheat vehemently to win in November.
So the main question still is unanswered: Did someone force Zuck to contribute hundreds of millions of $$$ to the 2020 election and who did it go to?
If Trump is elected this time, he can cooperate with the prosecution of all those Democrats.
BTTT
This letter has a simple message: I put you in power and will keep you in power as long as it pleases me and my staff.
Nothing will be done.
This isn’t a win for free speech. It’s merely evidence for the House GOP to use to secured feedom of speech by say defunding all the agencies threatening freedom of speech and only turing it back on after they purge their employee rolls of those engaged in unconstitutional behavior, after reducing appropriations to cover the expected reduced employment levels and with severe strictures against using federal monies to pay salaries of those who engage in prohibited acts including at the intel agencies.
