The resident says the facility has all her money. It’s not her money any longer. It became the facility’s money as she exchanged it over time for living accommodations.

Yes, and she had a contract. Now they violated the terms of the contract.

They have an expensive facility in my town, and I know for a fact, they tell people they are obligated to continue taking care of them, even if they go broke. And by the way, the facility gets to keep the huge deposit if they, "die early." Isn't a contract a contract?

Or possibly, it isn’t clear, gave it all to the facility in a contractural agreement for Lifetime Care. If so— then a fairly decent lawyer could take this place to the cleaners. Breach of Contract damaging to an individual of a major demographic group. Quite against the law.

Well, when a business buys out another business, that usually includes its debts. Maybe not enough information here, but it sounds like the new management should honor the old contract. Its probably a legal case to be made, but not sure how the resident here can afford to address it with attorneys.
