She was talented. She was beautiful. But the Dancer of Auschwitz was also Jewish…a fact that was important and tragic when she found herself at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
An Ingenious and Jewish Dancer
Born in 1917, dancer Franceska Mann lived in Warsaw, Poland. In 1939, before World War II broke out, Franceska took fourth place in the international dance competition held in Brussels. The people of Poland considered her one of the most beautiful and promising dancers – both in classical and modern styles – in their country. But her Jewish faith changed that.
Franceska regularly performed at Warsaw’s Melody Palace nightclub when the Nazis invaded Poland. Being Jewish, the girl became a prisoner of the infamous Warsaw Ghetto.
From Headline Dancer to Holocaust Victim
On October 23, 1942, a train carrying 1,700 Polish Jews arrived at the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, Franceska among them. These Jews had been told they were being taken to Switzerland in order to be exchanged for German POWs – an obvious lie. Stopping at Auschwitz, the Jews followed orders to shower and be disinfected before the arrived in Switzerland.
A Nazi S.S. officer named Josep Schillinger supervised the women. The Nazi noticed the beautiful dancer and ordered her to disrobe for him. Likely knowing that the showers were a murderous lie, and also deducing the wanton German’s intentions, Franceska made her move.
The dancer threw her shoe into the Nazi’s face, grabbed his gun, and shot Schillinger twice in the stomach, also shooting another Nazi in the process. Schillinger died on his way to the hospital.
The other S.S. guards shot and killed Franceska, but not before chaos ensued, with one Nazi losing a nose and another his scalp. Eventually the camp commandant Rudolf Höss brought a phalanx of Nazi guards who killed the uprising women with machine guns and grenades. But not before this group of women – led by the heroic dancer, Franceska Mann – stood up to their evil captors, choosing how they would die.
While the story of Franceska Mann does not end happily, may it last as one that highlights the importance of standing up to evil, prejudice, and tyranny.
She died on her feet, not on her knees ... and she took a few of the bastards with her.
I can think of worse ways to go.
Should have noted some versions of the story indicate she did a striptease which distracted the Nazi guards, after having been ordered to disrobe for the showers.
Interesting that we don’t hear a lot about these stories.
I’m sure there were many, I have read a few in obscure books.
But most think the Jews went quietly.
That’s what I would want people to think too. If I was going to try it again.
You hear some of Jews who survived in the forests or occasionally urban undergrounds. From the camps themselves, no one left to repeat them.
Maybe the PTB might not want such stories told so that the next time they pull that stunt the sheep won’t get all uppity and stuff. They want you to simply comply, get in the train, enjoy a nice hot shower and a vacation in Switzerland...they said.
...wear a mask, stay home, take the shot and then take another and another, let us “take care of” your parents and grandparents at the facility, don’t come to the facility though, close your church, close your business into bankruptcy, don’t question authority...why can’t you people just comply?...they said.
Well-played. Thanks. The perps are still alive.
השם ינקום דמה. נשמתה בגן מנוחה
Perhaps he has already.
The woman had spirit. Beautiful story. She might have taken a few of the 10/7ers with her, had she been there.
What I call a happy ending. If you gotta go, take down a few evil people on your way.

That’s one way to exploit the weakness of men.
Sobibor is another interesting story.
.
I like this one.
Brave young woman.
The illustration on the right, depicts the below-ground room where concentration/extermination camp victims were forced/told to disrobe.
I HATE NAZIs and anti-Semites
Heh, I equate the jabs to getting on the train also.
We here at the Sarcazmo household take pride in the fact that we would not get on the train.
I fear the next go-around non-compliance will not be so easy. Makes one speculate that this last go-around was a trial run to work through all the legal kinks.
All the thievery has given cover to the stores and shops to put in systems which could EASILY be repurposed to keep the unvaxed out. Paranoia? Could be, but if people aren’t paranoid these days they are simply not paying attention.
