2024 - Ukrainian troops are rolling deeper and deeper inside Russia! Russian generals are incompetent, the propaganda is in shock and Putin is silent!
1941 - German troops are rolling deeper and deeper inside Russia! Russian generals are incompetent, the propaganda is in shock and Stalin is silent!
I think I’ve seen this movie before.
Except the last movie of 1941 had Stalin retreating to his dacha near Moscow and there his generals consulted with him and begged him to come back and lead the country.
In this movie, Putin is paying a state visit to Azerbaijan, and the army is doing a joint exercize with the Mongolian army.
The generals have not gone to visit Putin in Azerbaijan, because first he fired his top general and replaced him with a KGB man, then unofficially fired him and replaced him with his one-time personal bodyguard, now a mere bureaucrat, no military expertise whatever. Then Putin went (fled?) to Azerbaijan. Who are the head generals now? Will they beg Putin to come back and lead the country? Will he?
I don’t see Ukraine pushing further into Russia than now.
Looks like they are just taking the buffer and fortifying it/providing a need to massively re-distribute Russian troops/equipment.
I really presumed they would have left by now, but apparently not.

Spoiling attack. They were serious they would have strategic objectives.
1812 - French troops are rolling deeper and deeper inside Russia! Russian generals are incompetent, the propaganda is in shock and the Tsar is silent!...............
I can see the Russians encircling the Uke’s. Or just wait for winter.
I don’t want to see this, for it’s a needless waste of life. War materials are the least of the Uke’s problems. The Ukrainians don’t have that many able bodied men to fill those ranks.
So yes, this could be somewhat of a remake of that old movie. Just different actors.

Yeah, me too. Anyone with a sense of history and a tiny bit of knowledge about military operations will understand that all of this success is going to go nowhere. Russia is very accustomed to having western armies roll over their corrupt and poorly-led brigades and divisions of poorlyequipped, drunks. They But, because of the vastness of the Russian heartland, the invader always gets swallowed up.
First of all, though I don’t know the precise numbers, I did read several days ago that this entire incursion started with something like 12,000 to 14,000 men. That is a literal drop in the bucket for the Russians. Second, let’s say that they keep piling up successes and keep driving deeper and deeper into Russia. How are they going to eat? Who’s going to supply them with fuel for their vehicles? How about ammunition? Without logistics, no army can win for more than a very short period of time, no matter how good they are and how bad the enemy may be. Armies run on supplies, not unicorn farts. Third, the more success that the Ukrainians have, the more arrogant its own leaders will become, and push this “expeditionary force“ to go further and further into Russia. Well, that’s a trap.
I will be surprised if this Ukrainian force even exists as a coherent unit for more than about another two weeks.
