A helicopter pilot has died after crashing into the roof of a luxury Hilton hotel sparking a huge fireball and evacuations.
The chopper smashed into the roof of the luxury Double Tree Hotel in Cairns, Australia, at about 1.50am local time.
The pilot was the only person on board at the time with Queensland Police confirming they died.

The use of singular they is more than a 1000 year old, borrowed from the Norse during the Viking incursions.
It was used in the Wycliff Bible (1382) and The Canterbury Tales (1400).
The teaching of plural only they to be replaced by a generic he began in the late 18th century and never caught on with the peasant class no matter how hard the educated classes insisted.
When I was in high school in the 70’s I was taught that singular they was acceptable when the antecedent gender was unknown.
It was good enough for Jane Austen, it’s good enough for me.
Since the early days of the English language. That has been a quite acceptable use of the plural “they” for a long, long time.
The ones in Asia are much nicer than the ones in the US. Four Points is like that, also.

Poor composition. Misuse of pronoun. Go back to school.
In stories about people who identify as neither male nor female or ask not to be referred to as he/she/him/her: Use the person’s name in place of a pronoun, or otherwise reword the sentence, whenever possible. If they/them/their use is essential, explain in the text that the person prefers a gender-neutral pronoun.

It could also imply that the helicopter pilot was suffering from identity crisis, which most woke asshats want everyone to assume.

I worked 30 years as a tech editor. I am so glad I retired before this “they” nonsense got serious. It had already started before I retired.
