After nearly a week of high water blocking access to the homes in Laurel Meadows, Friday marks a new day for many.
Although still flooded, most of the water inside the homes have gone.
Like so many of their neighbors, the Gregory family returned home to survey the damage caused by Debby.
"I feel terrible. I just was crying like I just, I don't know where to begin," said Kim Gregory. "All my beautiful furniture, all the things that you know, we take time to pick out and put together and spend money on— all gone."
The last time Kim Gregory saw the inside of her house, she had to kayak right into her living room.

Notice the last picture is a blue kayak in the livingroom inside the house.
A lot of that stuff will dry out fine. The knick-knacks are safe!
Where was this?
Are these the same people we’ve been hearing about that have no flood insurance - though their homes are built on reclaimed swampland?
Not being mean, just asking...
If you see a good deal on a coastal home because it’s under renovation and the lower half of the sheet rock is missing off the walls?.... You should probably move on.
Hurricanes will do that.
Well we didn’t get much wind at all. I live a mile from this area. No flooding where I’m at.
Yes, no flood insurance for most of these homeowners. It is odd that there are several developments around this one that all share the same road (Lorraine Rd.) yet the only one I have been hearing about that flooded was Lauren Meadows. I haven’t heardd of Seasons, Artistry or the other one off of Palmer on the north side flooding.
Sarasota, Florida. It also flooded near the Phillippi Creek in the Amish area called Pinecraft Park. Friend of mine was renting the ground floor of a house and woke up to 3-4 feet of water when he evacuated.
Have you ever had to deal with a flood?
Actually, the city/county Health Dept. will likely condemn a property like that. Mold, E. Coli and lots of other stuff affects these homes. It’s very sad.
I feel sorry for the people. It’s a rough deal. But thank God everyone is safe.
When is ‘Hurricane Czar Harris’ scheduled to show up?
*SMIRK*
Elect her and ALL of America will be (further) underwater!
After hurricane Ian it’s mandatory to have flood insurance.
They people that needed it didn’t have it and the people that didn’t need it never bought it. Now you have to have it even though you high and dry and would never flood.
Gotta subsidize the people that bought in a swamp.
Sounds like EVERY ‘idea’ Mother Government ever came up with.
