In Dante’s Inferno, Cerberus guards the Third Circle, while torturing the sinners (gluttons) by biting their flesh while they struggle in slime and mud.

Cerberus was Roman mythology, filched from the Greek Kerberos. Which is why the Romans pronounced ‘Cerberus’ with a “K,” not ‘Sir-beros,’ because they were all about emulating the Greeks.

The writer Jim Butcher, in his “Dresden Files” novel “Skin Game”, makes a humorous portrayal of the god of the underworld, Hades, whose “dog” (Cerberus/Kerberos) is named “spot.”
I had to take Butcher’s word for it as, when I tried finding this online google would only return results discussing Kamala Harris.
