Conscription — a practice most Americans believe should be relegated to the dustbin of history — has returned as an uncomfortable topic of conversation among U.S. allies and adversaries alike. This has generated concern and even conspiracy theories among American voters. But a candid discussion would be healthier. The fact is, if the United States hopes to deter or defeat a Chinese attack on Taiwan, it should be prepared to effectively implement a draft. To be clear, this is a solution of last resort, but one that may be necessary.
Right now, U.S. mobilization has not been tested in decades. As a result, current ideas about how it would function are woefully out of date. Being prepared to execute a draft requires buy-in from across all branches of government — and society writ large.
At a minimum, the executive branch and Congress should actively pursue a more proactive approach. The National Security Council should take the lead on mobilization exercises. Congress should also get out ahead on expanding Selective Service System registration to all Americans between the ages of 18–25, thereby preventing future legal challenges to the current all-male registration system when time may be of the essence.

I have a suspicion that our manufacturing processes have become so efficient and widespread that way more stuff is being produced than can be consumed. With the general demographic decline and aging of consumerist populations the demand for crapola must be on a down slope.
The current set of wars could be to switch production to items that either get stockpiled or used up quickly. Also, we are forcing our competitors to do likewise. That keeps production lines humming without the need to fill large empty fields with unpurchased cars, scooters, etc.
If we are producing too much, then why can't we instead spend money on sending thousands of missions into space? That would keep the MIC happy with less death and destruction.
Or did the aliens living on the dark side of the Moon tell our leaders to stay put on Earth?
Facts should tell you our military is extremely short of personnel. Do you want to face any enemy without training? We need a draft, and; this nation is obese, and many could not pass any military PT test.
I recall in 1965 we may have had 3-4 obese per 1,000. When was the last time a kid knocked on your door looking for work?

The core of the military has always been conservative youth, white boys from the country and the suburbs who loved their country. Describes me, and is why I served.
Now, I discourage my kids, as to most veterans’ parents I know. Serve under a Bush, Obama, Biden? Get betrayed and used by the Leftists and Neocon for their own political ends? No thanks.

Better look at a DC draft to fight the civil war against the 50 blue or red states that hate the draft/cannon-fodder/slavery.

To tell you the truth, from what I’m seeing today especially from democrat administrations, I’m beginning to have doubts about a draft these days I mean there was a time when our soldiers went to fight for the country but lately they have been taking care of illegal alien babies, registering illegals for court dates sometime in the late 2020s - who knows what we’ll be drafted to do.
I think after the Yemani savages managed to chase away an aircraft carrier with drones China must be at least reconsidering any plans they might have been making.
I suggest Drafting ALL Democrat Politicians, their Children and Grand Children FIRST!!!
Only then will we see just how serious they are.
