A 2’x2’x2’ chunk of gold would weigh about 10,000 pounds. This looks a bit larger. I doubt it is real. Just like the Westerns were they throw the box of gold off the wagon to be caught by the bad guy on horse back.
A cubic foot of gold weighs about 1,200 pounds.
If it was solid gold, they could not have moved it.
I think my weight is wrong and would be for pure gold, not a nugget.
I see that the largest known nugget still around weighs about 170 pounds. I couldn’t find any information on its physical size, but from the photos it appears to be perhaps 6-inches across.
