Standard theme and Power settings display brightness control?
Works for me...
Here’s what I did for my phone:
Take a picture of a black background, like electrical tape over the lens.
Then use that as your wallpaper.
Will it work for a PC using Brave?
I dunno...............................
Saves battery time, too..............
What the heck IS “dark mode”?

LMK what you find out, as I'm in the dark, too |
Give Dark Reader a try. I’ve been liking for the month or so I’ve been using it.
I use an extension called Dark Reader
It is not very customizable but I haven’t looked to change it
I’ve tried that in the past, and I tried it again a few moments ago and it still doesn’t give me what I’m looking for. It’s really terrible that something like Super Dark Mode will pretty give me what I need, that is, if they’ll stop making changes to the extension that results in the settings being reset every couple of days.
see if you can disable updates for super dark or the browser
Unfortunately, no, I believe all extensions in Chromium browsers update automatically.
How to disable Google Chrome extension autoupdate
Hope it works for you
Already tried that as well. There is no way to turn off the autoupdate for extensions in Chrome. Mozilla products you probably can because of the about:config feature. But any chromium based browser, no.
Dark mode is best late at night when you don’t want white light from the LED screen glaring at you/
______________
Dark mode is a display setting available in many internet browsers that changes the color scheme to darker tones, primarily for the user interface (UI). This mode reduces the brightness emitted by the screen while maintaining a dark background, which can be easier on the eyes, especially in low-light environments.
Key Features of Dark Mode
Visual Comfort: Dark mode helps reduce eye strain during prolonged use of screens. The darker interface can be less harsh compared to bright white backgrounds, making it particularly useful for users who spend long hours in front of their devices.
Energy Efficiency: On OLED and AMOLED screens, dark mode can save battery life, as these displays consume less power when displaying darker colors.
User Interface Changes: While dark mode alters the browser’s toolbar, menus, and settings pages to darker shades, it does not change the content of websites, which are typically styled by the website developers. This means that while your browser may appear dark, the actual pages you visit will remain in their original color schemes unless they are specifically designed to support dark mode.
Adjust down the brightness of your displays. They are usually too bright to be begin with. I set mine down to 50% or 60% and as my main computer currently has three 34-inch super-wide curved displays, I've adjustment to also match each other.
Second, turn a light on. It is less stress on your eyes and psyche to have some lights on.
