Hypothetical question. Let’s take a typical taxpayer, a little short of funds but wants to comply with the tax filing deadline. So let’s say he writes a check for the taxes owed, but he doesn’t have the money in the account to cover the check. Can he just use the United States government excuse of oh well, we meant to pay our taxes and after all that important fact.

Send them a check for $1.29 and just say it was a mistake. I didnt mean to do anything wrong, I just made a simple mistake. in classic George Costanza form.
