Jonathan Hayes, the man who tried to disarm the Southport stabber and was knifed in the leg as a result, said Starmer must listen to peoples’ concerns on immigration rather than blame the right as the root cause for the ongoing riots.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, Hayes warned:
“I actually don’t think that the trouble on the Right has got anything at all to do with the Southport stabbings.
There appears to be a strong undercurrent of discontent for some time about the levels of immigration. And this is just a catalyst or a trigger, but I don’t think it’s the root cause. I do get dismayed when I hear Keir Starmer talking about [how] the police are going to come down with the full force of the law on these people. But they are not actually talking about the root cause, and they need to start listening and understanding that. They need to address the cause rather than the symptoms…”

The only reason the government built the Radical Right up into a boogieman in the media (and this is very true in the States too) is that they knew who would be objecting to policies they were about to enact and needed a convenient villain.
Mr. Hayes makes a lot of sense. He is very reasonable.
I’ll bet you a dollar (oops, I mean a pound) that right now the British government is trying to figure out a way to arrest him. Inciting a riot, maybe?
He speaks some common sense.
How long before this man is arrested for speaking the truth?
