The same problems afflict much of Florida now, with the pathologies of longstanding criminal neighborhoods amplified by the massive influx of illegals and growth of the drug trade. Unlicensed "bottle clubs" are popular and often violent night time mixing spots for the criminal element.

Even as stores and small businesses close in the bad areas, law-abiding areas are prospering as commercial activity shifts their way. My neighborhood immediately south of Orlando is near the cusp of this process locally so I watch as it plays out.

Ahhh, you should meet my mother. At 92, her mind is sharp — including her shopping reflexes. We try to restrain her, but she remains hopelessly drawn to buy stuff that she doesn't really need because it is on discount.

I see the one in Calumet City is closing. I was at one in Indiana last night and a couple women shopping there were saying that it was closing. It was looted along with a bunch of other stores during the summer of love Floyd riots. River Oaks mall is almost dead there. Another one near me is still open. An Ollies is opening in their old location that they were forced out of by the town, it was to be torn down but never happened, so that might hurt them even more. I don’t shop Big Lots as much since the build back better idiots took over and tanked the economy.

To be fair, they were dying 30 years ago. A lot of it has to do with our demographics. Only a few malls are killing it. You want to be known as the "white" mall.

The economic experts say that another retail chain store closing multiple locations is a sign of a healthy economy.
