I know someone who had chronic shingles pain until she died. Nothing could blunt the pain. She got the initial flare up on her back, but there was no one to check it, as her husband had passed, years earlier. Without timely antivirals, she became much more likely to have the endemic pain.

She was a very godly woman and handled it the best she could.

I do believe such a vaccine can be helpful.

Mine flared up in my eye. Very frightening.

Thanks. At almost 77, and having outlived everyone else in my family, I’ll take the chance of dementia.

Sad story, one wonders if the shingrix might have helped her.

I know folks who've had serious cases, all long before the shingrix version, and many worried about where the progression would end. Discomfortable hardly covers the more severe cases.

Regarding dimentia, what about the possiblity of cross-immunity, conferred via the shingrix vax, among the various herpesviruses?

At a time when some say that all vaccines are bad, there's this important observation.

My uncle had very bad shingles. After seeing what he went through (even had them on the top of his head) I got the vaccine. Not taking chances. My sister has had shingles a few times, not bad, but still.

My mom had it 3 or 4 times. Came close to her eye once. I got the vaccine years ago. I started having terrible chills and thought I was going to fall over hours after the second dose. I didn’t get chicken pox until I was a teenager because someone with it came back to school too early. I didn’t want to go through what my Mom did so I got the vaccine.

I had shingles in 2007. 4 horizontal lines across my upper torso. I tried to “be a man” and endure the pain for 3 days, but could not take it any more. Doc took one look, said”Yep, it’s shingles!”

At least the pain killer was effective, and I could not drive,so I got 10 days off work.

Actually, I could drive, but my attention wandered all over. Look, a bird! Leaves blowing in the wind! Flowers! Uh oh, a car. Birds! Hey, I just passed my building! So, I didn’t drive.

I had an adverse reaction to Shingrex and a permanent touch of vertigo as a constant reminder.

Makes sense because it fights herpes.

If you see a provider within 24 hours of onset of symptoms there are therapeutics that can work very well.

Most people who get shingles are one and done.

For people with weakened immune systems, a shingles vaxx might make sense, but only with informed consent.

I don’t know anyone who’s been offered a shingles vaxx who’s been given what I’d consider informed consent.

Yeah my mother was a godly woman. She had shingles for the last 15-20 years of her life. She lived in a world of hurt. She handled it with stoic grace and humor.

I was just about first in line when the new shingles shots came out about 10 years ago.

Nice to know they also aid in brain function.

So take a vaccine to help shingles which can be caused by the chickenpox vaccine?

I’ll pass... They’ll be dealing with the effects of this vaccine years from now.

After the Covid fraud with Modrirna and Phizer. Hell will freeze over before I take any shot. If they mandate it, come armed. We will deal with it one way or the other. I’m not partial either way. I will die free before I do so with some government regulation. Brothers and sisters did you forget... The Land of The Free! There will be a price to pay at times, for our kids it’s worth it! Stand up brothers and sisters!!

I started taking elderberry at the very beginning of what I thought was an outbreak of shingles. The outbreak stayed small and I opted to stay on the elderberry instead of the doctor prescribed antiviral. Not saying everyone should do that, but it worked for me. It was short lived and very mild.
