"This seems like a stretch. If he was objective, which he isn't, he would put this on hold or discard it for now"

And he hasn't been objective in several categories this time around.

It's a long road until someone gets to put the key in the front door as the 47th. All the pearl clutchers need to stop blindly believing the people who've done nothing but lie to you for decades. How much do you all need to take before you begin to awaken?

If you're in the other camp who believes there's nothing can be done, 'The beast is too powerful!! Flee for your lives!', then go, wait for defeat, 'May your chains set lightly upon you.'

The rest of us know the road is never easy and there's much work to be done.

From your link:

Key 3: Incumbent seeking re-election
Lichtman says an incumbent president seeking re-election has several advantages, such as the ability to set the national agenda, and often attracts far more media attention than a non-incumbent. The president can also benefit from the rally 'round the flag effect in times of crisis.

Lichtman also says that presidents running for re-election rarely face the strongest candidates from the challenging party, who typically refrain from running unless the president is seen as very vulnerable.

This is certainly not the case this year so I am puzzled why he is going against his own guidance and observation.
