CNN busted Trump running mate pick Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) over unearthed recordings in which he refers to childless people as “sociopaths” and “psychotic” amid outrage over similar comments.
Vance has faced outrage this week over a 2021 interview that went viral, in which Vance derided “childless cat ladies” who “don’t really have a direct stake in” the country.
In an interview with Fox News, Vance claimed critics were “aggressively lying” about what he said and that his remarks were “radically taken this out of context.”
But on Tuesday’s edition of CNN News Central, anchor John Berman ran down a fresh set of “context” unearthed by KFile’s Andrew Kaczynski:
SARA SIDNER: (story tease).
Not just childless cat ladies. Turns out there are many more ways Trump’s running mate has described people without children. The word sociopath used a lot.
JOHN BERMAN: Brand new this morning. More than childless cat ladies. Way more new reporting from CNN’s KFile this morning on Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance.
The controversial comments he made questioning the judgment of people without children– they were not a one off. In May of 2019, he told the crowd, quote, “Babies are good because we’re not sociopaths.”
JD VANCE: I’ve seen people who become more attached to their communities, to their families, to their country, because they have children.
So I would say that we should care about declining fertility, not just because it’s bad for our economy, but because we think babies are good– and we think babies are good because we’re not sociopaths.
JOHN BERMAN: Then, in November of 2020, during a podcast appearance, he said this.
JD VANCE: There is just these basic cadences of life that I think are really powerful and really, really valuable when you have kids in your life.
And the fact that so many people, especially in America’s leadership class, just don’t have that in their lives.
You know, I worry that it makes people more sociopathic and ultimately our whole country a little bit less, less mentally stable.
And of course, you talk about going on Twitter. Final point I’ll make is you go on Twitter, and almost always, the people who are most deranged and most psychotic are people who don’t have kids at all.
JOHN BERMAN: In August of 2021, in a fundraising email, CNN found he appealed to donors by mentioning the, quote, “radical, childless leaders in this country.”.
And then he tweeted in 2021, quote, “Cat ladies must be stopped.”
Rubio is odious.
This guy wasn’t vetted, but Rubio would have been a horror.
The people who proselytize for childlessness, b/c of “climate chaos” and such, are indeed sociopathic.
I take his comment to be about abortion...yes, we like babies, we are a party of not murdering them at any stage, we are not sociopaths.
You should of grown a spine.
Those without children are sociopaths? He’d given them half a vote or less than breeders.
Vance was a mistake. Stupid comments, Pelosi has 5 kids, Clinton and Obama have kids. There are sociopaths with kids. We have to live with him on the ticket, but he adds nothing to the ticket. Vivek or Sarah Sanders would’ve been better choices as VP.
Oh, lookie.....some little newbie troll comes in and starts posting anti-Trump/Vance garbage.
Hey, Mee-Ahm-Mee, what compelled you search out FR and join?
RINO Rubio?
Not just no.
HELL NO!!!
Vance as the VP selection isn’t the problem. The problem is that the Trump campaign has no strategy against Harris the female candidate. Name calling is great red meat for the MAGA base, but it’s not attracting other voters.
I didn’t see this myself but I was told that Brit Hume on faux news was bashing Vance pretty good. Add that to the likes of Upchuck schumer wanting him out (it’s none of his business!!), and it looks like the UniTreason Party is gunning for Trump to replace him with someone else.
That someone is Nikki Haley, the MIC darling.
Wait, so the party of late term abortion are suddenly offended by being called childless? That’s rich...
“I am not going to refuse to vote for Trump because of things Vance said.”
That’s fine and dandy, but the general electorate does not mirror FR membership.
There are a million ways of expressing support for families other than attacking the childless as somehow more skewed toward sociopathy.
My first-born son is the father of two and divorced. His current serious girlfriend is childless at 42 and is far more stable and emotionally well-balanced than his ex-wife.
Vance has used incendiary language about those not blessed with children repeatedly. That CNN aired these instances is not CNN’s fault: it is failure of the campaign to uncover their existence before the veep selection. If the vetting had been done properly one of two things could have taken place: either choosing another candidate or at least lessening the damage by getting in front of it and promoting pro-family measures such as tax breaks.
Ronald Reagan said, “If you’re explaining, you’re losing.”
Thus far Vance has been doing a lot of explaining.
The blowing this all out of proportion because it’s all they’ve got. They always do this. This is nothing new.
As a child of a broken family, Vance has earned the right to point out the obvious: people with no children do not have a stake in the future. I
n America today man of them fight tooth and nail to support policies that are destroying our society.
This hullabaloo is actually going to help Vance and Trump get elected in the end because it shows once again Democrats foaming at the mouth like a mad dog.
In November 2020, Vance said on a conservative podcast that childless Americans, especially those in the country’s “leadership class,” were “more sociopathic” than those with children and made the country “less mentally stable.” Vance added that the “most deranged” and “most psychotic” commentators on Twitter – now known as X - were typically childless.
“Being childless was not a choice we made...”
Vance has made it very clear, many times, that he is not referring to those who cannot have kids (my wife did but was nearly 40 before we were shocked by success). He’s referring to those who REJECT children because they want to live for themselves and kids “get in the way”.
Sorry. But Vance is making a point that resonates with many women. Many women who for whatever reason fail to procreate end up miserable, strange and bitter. Women themselves realize this is true and and far many more than CNN and the Democrats would like to admit, have no affinity or affection for Kamala Harris and her ilk. Most women, other than some young and stupid under forties, realize such a woman should never lead the country.
What you are witnessing is an effort by the Democrat party and their allies in the media industry to demonize JDV, and make him an issue...all part of their “killing unborn babies is good” attempt to appeal to women (which they cannot define).
The GOP establishment likewise hates JDV. So they will give feeble defense, unless we set a fire under them.
The Demon Rat party will not gaslight me.
Local Miami Florida media is running “controversial” comments today from JDV. What are these “controversial” words? His observation, from a “leaked recording” with donors that....wait for it....Kamala Harris is a different kind of opponent than Joe Biden! GASP!
