It is not easy to fake pride, when Putin and the entire Russian navy knows how they have performed. Russia has lost 1/3 its Black Sea Fleet to Ukraine, a country without a functional navy.
Now that Finland and Sweden have joined NATO, the Baltic Sea has a new nickname: "Lake NATO". That is not going to sit well with Putin. The Black Sea fleet is getting forced out of Crimea, and the North Sea fleet has always faced real navies.
