Gojira Were So Extremely Metal For Their 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony Performance That Made History

Lady Gaga put on quite the show at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in Paris, but you know what it was missing? Pyrotechnics, headless women in a castle, and a boat carrying an opera singer. Enter: Gojira. The group became the first metal band to ever perform during the opening ceremonies. They were chosen because a) they’re French, and b) they put on a sick show.

The band — made up of vocalist Joe Duplantier, drummer Mario Duplantier, lead guitarist Christian Andreu, and bassist Jean-Michel Labadie — played a cover of “Ah! Ca Ira,” a song that was popular during the French Revolution. “It was a very bloody era of French history, so it was very metal,” Joe told The New York Times, adding that the band wanted to represent “the whole metal community on the world stage.” They succeeded — and found a new fan in Kelly Clarkson, who hosted the ceremony. “This is so cool,” she raved.

You can watch the performance below

According to Forbes, only a select few rock bands — let alone metal bands — have performed during the opening ceremony, including Kiss (2002); Alanis Morisette (2010); and Snow Patrol, The Who, Paul McCartney, and Muse, all in 2012. Could the Super Bowl halftime show be next for Gojira?!

Sounds like a sick act trying to outdo the previous sick act. Roman bread & circuses here we are.

Pardon me, but that “show” had all the markings of a performance, production, direction, allowing for a FEW intermittent displays of sanity, THE WORST TWO HOURS OF MY LIFE.

If that wasn’t put together by the occupants of an insane asylum, then it should be looked at and seriously consider deep Mental Health sessions needed.

SORRY, but that’s just me.It looked like something assembled in the early 60s when drugs were illegal.

Gojira - isn’t that the Japanese spelling of Godzilla?

I think it’s just the pronunciation of “Godzilla” in the early flicks…

Reading the comments here, I believe the youngsters have taken over. Is FR passing the torch? I’m 76, love Rock ‘n’ Roll, R&B, Jazz, and Classical. Can’t get any pleasure from Rap, HipHop, or Gojira, though, or a lot of “modern” music.

Well, I enjoy it here over the hill, but still worry about what’s to come…

I may have to correct myself about them being overtly satanic.

Gojira does tremendous work against inequality and injustice. In recent years, they’ve fought to protect the Amazonian rainforests, stop elephant slaughter, and promote awareness for climate change... The band has fundraised for the fight against HIV/AIDS, Greenpeace, and sea conservation, among other causes. They continue to take their activism with them as they continue touring the U.S.A.

“Rock is the music of rebellion; it has all the components,” said Joe Duplantier.

Because nothing says "rebellion" like carrying the message of globalist elites, tyrannical governments and mentally ill freakazoids. Now I see why they were chosen for the performance.

I was kind of hoping to see Plastic Bertrand do “Ça Plane Pour Moi”.

👍👍👍

But by the time we've heard of a foreign pop song, it's already old stuff to foreign kids.

I realize that they’re harkening back to one of THE most bloodiest points in French history with the beheaded Marie Antoinette and all, but .... I have to ask. WHY???

The Cult Of Reason that went off the deep end with the Jacobins never really went away. It's been repackaged as Communism, Fascism, and now Globalism. It's what happen when the revolution replaces the Law Of God with the Law Of Man, and pointy headed dweebs seek revenge on society using the social order to do it. They're trying it again, all over the world.

Whitney's famous 1991 Super Bowl performance of the National Anthem was pre-recorded, and she lip-synced over it. Well-sung, but not live as it should be.

If you want to see a great live performance of the Anthem, check out Meatloaf from the 1994 All-star game. Sung heroically, as a song of defiance:

They’re succeeding all over the world. All to ‘get back at God’, in fact. Mankind’s march towards its’ own extinction... led by Satan’s minions, leading all those useful idiots to their doom. Those useful idiots, btw, who all think they’re much more intelligent than those of us that see clearly where they’re headed. Those brilliant oh so useful idiots that are going or have gone to college and getting an “education”. And so it goes....

“Edgy for edgy’s sake” was apparently the overall theme of the Paris Olympic Opening Ceremony. But I suppose it is to be expected from the French, who seem to enjoy exuberantly celebrating the decomposition of their culture.

I’ve also been a Christian my whole life.

I saw Alice Cooper live when I was 16. It was the “Killer” tour. Alice was hanged at the end of the show but it was cool. The performance by Gojira was creepy because the song seemed to celebrate the bloody, fascist French Revolution of 1789 (very creepy).
I’m a Christian too but I felt some very bad vibes with these 2024 Olympic opening performances. Please research CERN, the opening of an extra dimensional portals. Here’s a segment of an abstract performance to celebrate Switzerland’s rail opening [1]. Please search for the extended version. I think they know exactly what they are doing, preparing the way for the rise of Satan’s son, the Antichrist.

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. Rev. 9:1
And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. Rev. 16:13
