… U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the White House race may well turn 2024 into the Year of the Woman — namely, that of Vice President Kamala Harris who, armed with the outgoing president’s endorsement, can now be considered the front-runner to replace him atop the Democratic ticket.
Truth is, if Harris is successful in getting the nod from the Democratic Party, much of the subsequent election campaign is likely to domestically focus on abortion and women’s rights. Trump already has a problem with women voters — polls have consistently shown that the proportion of women planning to vote for him this November is smaller than those who did in 2020. And Vance has nothing to offer Trump on this score — quite the reverse, he risks compounding his boss’s problem.
Presumably, Trump chose Vance as his VP candidate largely to fire up the MAGA base and boost the Republican ticket in Rust Belt states. But that was a choice made when Biden was still heading the Democratic ticket. Now that he’s not, Vance may well become a liability.

True.
Women will vote for the handsome JD Vance
Did Paul rhyme and Rupert Murdoch write this
I think these so called writers are under contract to write something, anything, to justify their salaries.
Thanks for your advice, Politico!
We know you always have Republicans’ best interests at heart
This is all about pushing the narrative that Trump’s campaign was caught flat-footed by Biden’s decision to drop out and endorse Harris which is absurd on its’ face.
It’s a cunnundrum.
Vance is very probably the best pick to be vice president.... IF THEY WIN.
The problem is if they don’t win (or if it’s a close win but the other side cheats), then it doesn’t matter. He is an afterthought until the next election cycle.
This is why I predicted that Vance would not be the pick. Trump is going to win Ohio anyway, and it’s sad to cave in to identity politics but sometimes you have to think strategically, because that’s what the other side is doing.
As always, the real headwind isn’t going to be the quality of the opponent, but the power and influence of the media.
The only course now is to fully commit to winning and pulling out all the stops. It has to be too big of a margin for cheating to be a factor
Poor Politico. On the losing side. Pretending Trump, while he’s winning, and comfortable with winning, not like Republican pols and voters, that Trump will consult Politico for advice
Now that Politico can see who will be president
What?
“Trump already has a problem with women voters”. And men are lining up early to vote for the Cackler?
She is only securing the votes of stupid women; they can relate.
Vance has all the right enemies.
Oh shut up Politico, the choice is made.
This word salad blathering disaster of a Vice President is also an utter failure as a presidential candidate to the point where she didn’t even make it out of December 2019 in the 2020 campaign, but now she’s the most formidable force in the universe and every Trump plan is in ashes. If only the Democrats had recognized the greatness in their midst sooner, they would be ruling the world.
If the Politburo says Vance is the wrong choice, then he is absolutely the right choice.
Yeah, Politico really has Trump’s best interest..........
Choices can be reconsidered.
Article is pure idiocy that demonstrates the writers almost total lack of any understanding of electoral politics.
WI-MI-PA are the battle ground states in 2024. if Trump wins PA it game over for the Dems. Vance background will play very well to habitual blue collar Dems who voted for Trump in 2016 and switch back to Biden in 2020.
As someone who watched Biden in politcs for 35 years, he has always had this weird connectivity with blue collar Dem voters. Vance background helps Trump re-connect to that voter block in critical states of PA-MI-WI
All the young lawyers love the pick and there are an army of young lawyers these days.
Vance is a great pic, and Heels Up Harris actually makes it easier to win the swing states.
