North Korean Military Capabilities & Strategy - Nukes, Numbers & (bad) Economics

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (AKA North Korea) is perhaps the strangest military power we've ever had a detailed look at on this channel from a defence economic perspective.

It's a nation of extremes - building nuclear weapons and ICBMs while requiring food aid, and fielding one of the world's largest active duty militaries with a population not that different from the likes of Australia.

With the recent signing of a partnership agreement between Pyongyang and Moscow, I thought it was finally time for a more detailed look at the DPRK and the Korean People's army.

Be aware, this is going to be a slightly weird one.

It is simple.
The communists are able to prioritize without regard to the will of the population. Every and each communist state acts lit one total company, which holds the population hostage as all wealth, jobs and resources are owned by the government.

That means that Soviet Union was able to send a man to space or build world largest military, while the people were starving in dug out “apartments” (zemljanka). No private cars, news paper for socks, etc.

That’s why it is imperative not to help them in any way.
Delivering food to the starving masses is just allowing the regime to spend more on military or other priorities. In North Korea, they build the world largest hotel (unused) and skiing resort, because the regime put a priority on it!
It is tragic, that millions starved to death, but starve they must. Starvation forces the regime to redirect at least some resources from military to food.

In N. Korea, even the military has to steal food as they too are starving.
And the vaunted U.N. Is mute?

I remember, that somebody has visited North Korea and noticed, that the only overweight person, he met, was the leader Kim himself.
Everybody else was pretty slim.

Anyway, pretty much all the people in Communist countries were (are) slim. Not just because of the lack of food, but also because of the lack of transportation.
Walking or biking everywhere is a decent exercise!
