A team of advanced propulsion researchers working at GE Aerospace’s Global Research Center in Niskayuna, New York, says it has successfully tested its new dual-mode hypersonic ramjet engine.

They should name it "Roger"

If its a ramjet, it's barely hypersonic because of the loss of efficiency in slowing air down from supersonic to subsonic flows. At high supersonic velocities the energy of the airflow is comparable too or greater than the energy contributed by combusing fuel and so loss of efficiency in the airflow limits propulsion capability. The reason for SCRAMJET engines is to maximize the retention of flow energy through the engine.
