Are Secret Service Communications Recorded?
15 July, 2024 | Vanity

If all Secret Service radio communications are routinely recorded, then we would have proof whether this entire event if it was an intentional hit and who was responsible, especially if that record somehow turned up missing.

From such a record, we would know whether and when the SS was informed of the shooter on the Glass Research building and that no order was issued to sweep Trump off the stage.

The question of whether the Secret Service Rules of Engagement demanded the sniper on the roof behind Trump request permission to shoot still hangs. If SS had been notified of the potential assassin, how long was it before he was authorized to shoot? If he saw the perp, he had to have made that request. With that record, we would know whether he had.

All of this hangs on the question as to whether these communications are routinely recorded. Given government behavior pursuant to the standards of evidence in court cases and the importance of communications in sustaining effective security, I'm betting that they are. I have little doubt Bongino would know the answer to that question, as that capability would play a role in procedural analysis and improvements in which he would have been directly involved.

Good thought, but I doubt that comms are recorded at remote temporary locations such as the Butler, PA rally.

Police departments have a central dispatch system and are working from a fixed location and in one area, so it is easy to have recording equipment for the radio traffic.

Secret Service move from location to location, and wouldn’t set up a temporary recording system just for radio traffic. They might (and probably do) have such a system for permanent fixed locations such as the White House.

Cops have been known to switch off their body cams from time to time.

The Secret Service was directed to hand over all of their text messages to Congress after January 6th... The current director said that all of the texts were all lost and handed over nothing. So yes, there is recorded data but don’t hold your breath that any of it will ever see the light of day.

Additional thought: They might have a mobile command post vehicle with recording equipment on site, so maybe there would be recordings.

60 seconds is a long time ….. 120 seconds is even longer. Their plan didn’t work.

A rare “glitch in the system” will wipe any such record in this case

Text messages are not radio traffic that might be recorded.

Why not? All it would take is a laptop or smart phone on a USB output to the command center radio. Given the importance of radio communications in police actions, I cannot believe that the evidentiary demands in court cases subsequent to the use of deadly force haven't long ago made such a feature a factory standard in police radio systems.

Some mysterious “glitch” erased all coms, well, I guess we’ll never know.

Jeez, I know that our local police radio communications are recorded. I cannot imagine that the Feds wouldn’t record their stuff.

If communications in events like this are routinely recorded by the Secret Service and they have "disappeared" in this instance, then that is all we need to establish legitimate suspicion that this was an intentional hit by the government.

Naive thinking. Why and how was JFK killed? No evidence proving otherwise than Oswald. This level of operation is beyond regular investigation agencies

The NSA has all such recordings.
Military Intelligence can access that database as well.

It is 60 years since JFK was murdered, and the government (including Trump, and now Biden) is still covering up details on that.

Of course, there is. Just the matter of flipping the switch to ON but, we all know it is just as easy to flip it OFF. It is a bit more difficult to mess it up intentionally before turning it over. After years of stupidity and excuses from SS, why trust or believe them now?

Could the locals record it? Accidentally, of course.

Another question is do the locals and feds coordinate their channels? One would think so but some news reports (yeah, I know) say they didn’t. The local cop who climbed the ladder should have notified the SS before he set foot on the ladder. He should have had is weapon at the ready instead of doing a Uvalde.

And then there’s the two guys on the barn roof who obviously had him sighted in for a while. It shouldn’t have taken so long to get a “Go” from a supervisor. Also, why did they have “Police” on their backs instead of SS or Fed or whatever to distinguish them from locals?

Don’t forget the Secret Service camera “glitch” in the White House during cocaine-gate.
