Nearly three years after the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico film set of “Rust,” actor Alec Baldwin is set to stand trial.
Baldwin is charged with involuntary manslaughter for his role in the deadly incident that also injured the film’s director, Joel Souza.
Baldwin was rehearsing with a prop gun for a scene on Oct. 21, 2021, at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, when the gun went off, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.
Baldwin has maintained in multiple interviews that he did not pull the trigger and that the gun misfired a bullet. Baldwin told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that he was taking direction from Hutchins and pulled the hammer back as far as he could without cocking it. But in 2022, results from FBI testing of the .45-caliber Colt prop revolver stated that the gun would not have gone off without the trigger having been pulled.
Just last month, Baldwin’s attorneys asked the judge to throw out the case, saying the firearm was badly damaged during forensic testing at the FBI lab, but the motion was denied.

Normally, I’d say that this never goes to trial and ends in a plea deal. But if the MAX he’s facing is 18 months, I think it goes to trial. I would have expected to see the prosecution “stack” a bunch of charges making it a choice of trial and risk 10 years, or plea and negotiate around those 18 months.
It’s interesting to me to not see a “trial penalty” baked in here.
He will take a plea. (IF offered)
He will serve ZERO jail time.
Huge fine and restitution.
He will get less time than Trump.
I still think this is a BS trial. If it were Chuck Norris instead of Baldwin, there would have been no charges brought.
Probation at most. Likely just some restitution.

Libtards shouldn’t be allowed to hold guns
No experienced gun owner in their right mind points a gun at someone and fires without checking if the gun is loaded. Even with an empty gun, it’s a stupid thing to do. If you want to maim or kill someone, that’s a different story.
Chuck Norris knows better than to cock a gun and point it at somebody and pull the trigger. The trial isn’t bs but your response is.
There is a reason they suddenly moved to VT.
“He will take a plea. (IF offered)”
It is going to trial. Too late.
Exactly. My thought was if it were Baldwins wife or child standing there he’d have refused to point that gun at either of them. Heck it creeps me out to look down the barrel of one I’m cleaning even when it is dismantled. Just the idea of looking down the barrel of any gun is ominous.
“Exactly. My thought was if it were Baldwins wife or child standing there he’d have refused to point that gun at either of them.”
AB was self-absorbed with practicing his fast draw. I don’t think he was watching where he was pointing.
“There is a reason they suddenly moved to VT.”
Why is that?
Let’s see never made a movie, never did force on force training.
He recklessly killed her beyond a shadow of a doubt. And Chuck Norris would not have been so stupid as to point a gun at someone and squeeze the trigger whether he thought it was loaded or not.
By the way, most guns in Hollywood are toys (completely disabled) and they do not point guns at each other no more. 99% of gun fire scenes are movie magic (cutaways). Alex followed none of the movie guidelines that were recommended after Bruce Lee’s son was accidently killed.
I would hope that you would not point a gun at a loved family member and squeeze the trigger just because an inexperience expert gave it to you. Yes, he knew her qualifications, he hired her.
Had Baldwin ever criticized, or reprimanded his employee Hutchins?
Has it been ruled out that he intentionally shot her?
He should receive a negligent homicide sentence at minimum, and first degree murder, if it can be proven he killed her intentionally.
lol 😆
