Well, we can afford to home school, that’s not a problem. But when we think of all of the goodies we’d miss out from, stuff WE DESERVE:
1. A bigger house.
2. New cars.
3. Fancy vacations.
4. Etc.
Oh well, if my kids get destroyed, tough on them - I DESERVE LUXURY!!!!
(ok, so some here don’t say the above...doesn’t mean they don’t think it)

You have summed up the typical Boomer mentality nicely in a single sentence. Sadly, they have managed to transmit this mentality to subsequent generations as well, including the current one which is raising kids now.
True story: some friends of ours have a brother who got married late. He and his wife are both fairly typical secular leftists and are having their first child in their early 40s. Both have jobs and both work from home, but...and here's the kicker...they are planning to put the baby in daycare after maternity leave ends.
The fact that parents could even consider that option blows my mind.
