They became a poorly run railway.

Gaddafi killed the airline, thanks to his destruction of PanAm 103 over Lockerbie. However, without the glamorous international routes, you gotta wonder about the point of this revival. PanAm was the flag carrier. This airline is like a bonsai tree compared to its full-size counterpart.

A dear friend worked for Pan American out of Miami back in the flying boat days. He worked on the switch over to land based operations and would visit Cuba and South American cities where Pan Am flew into.
The Cuba revolution and it’s refugees was quite poignant in respect to first person perspectives heard from the refugees sponsored by PanAm and it’s employees.

Perhaps one of, if not the greatest Airline Commercial ever. When we were proud of our country, our technology, our values.. The song, the words, the music, the faces....what a great and powerful commercial.....culminating with that beautiful jet taking off at just the right time.......
