It's nowhere near as insane here as it is in C(r)ook County and Chicago, though there are signs of fracture here. I *am* preparing to move out of this state as soon as my contract with my employer is up, and will be retiring.
I think this essay nails the problems here in HELLINOIS (as I call it) which is simply stated: incompetent "leadership" by incompetent and corrupt people who've been grifting the system for DECADES.
Chicago has completely broken down. It's a reckless, lawless and dangerous place to be. Criminals aren't held accountable, victims are told it's their own fault and all the city's problems are due to "racial inequity."
Businesses are moving out, the south loop of the city is a veritable wasteland and once great shopping and restaurant districts have been / are in the process of being decimated.
Chicago is in complete failure, "Cardiac Arrest" if you will.
Finally, our "governor" or as I call him, Governor Fatso has visions of sugarplums dancing in his head as he thinks he's going to get the nomination for President at the Democrat Convention in Chicago next month.
Speaking of the "convention" there are already at least 10 different groups planning violent protests in the city & at the convention as they've been denied protest permits. Their activities are out in the open on X, Instacrap and FascistBook easy to find & follow.
What's coming in August will make 1968 pale by comparison, especially now that the violent criminals & illegal Venezuelan street gangs know there's no consequence for ANYTHING they do, thanks to the closet homo that is Chicago's Mayor.

Chicago 4th of July Weekend: At Least 58 Shot Wednesday Night to Friday Night
At least one of the fatal shootings involved multiple shooters who opened fire Thursday “into a Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood home on the South Side.” An eight-year-old boy and two women were killed in the attack.
NBC 5 noted that the shooters also “left a five-year-old and seven-year-old boy in critical condition.”

Progressivism has been among the strongest in Chicago as far as cities go. NYC has been maybe even stronger, so what’s the difference, why is Chicago so much worse off? Progressivism costs alot to fund the constant mission creep it imposes on government. I can only surmise that NYC has a larger and stronger private sector that can pay for the progressive largess than does Chicago.
