If he came back between 1969 and 1971, it was probably for his own protection.
I’m not sure what year it was. He would NEVER talk about Vietnam. It wasn’t until after he died that we found a Bronze Star Medal in his stuff. No one knew. Is there a way to find out details for that?
my memory of that stuff is getting kind of cloudy, but i seem to recall...only way i could fly stand-by was wearing the uniform.
Seems over time, the crap at the airports peter’ed out, as they were really against the draft.
Interesting that while some of the stories of being spit upon were true, years later, I chased and tried to pin down quite a few told that story to me, they backed off and said it happened to a friend of theirs.
Couple of other stories I chased people on also turned out to be not true.
