Great insight, Bigg Red!

I watched Victor Davis Hanson discuss Trump several times in these past years and months, and respect his analysis of Trump’s appeal, and what might eventually evolve. Just a few days ago I watched him restate his views.

With a messy paraphrase or analogy, Hanson says that Trump is like an old west gunslinger who comes into town to defend the townsfolk from the black hats. He is willing to take drastic action, shoot the bad guys, and cleanse the town, but once he has accomplished that task, the town no longer wants such a rough and aggressive man in their midst, and he then will be rejected, asked to depart.

I dont know if Hanson is right, but he certainly knows more about human nature than I do.

As a woman, I find Trump a fascinating mix of aggressive tactics in public, but private gentility and tenderness, which we dont see unless we research his many quiet acts of generosity and care for the less fortunate.

It’s kind of like how Winton Churchill fought WW2 and attained victory and the Brits showed their gratitude and voted him out of office after the war.

Yes. Also compare Trump with 3 others I’ve been watching in their own personal adventures (tests and trials): Javier Milei of Argentina, Orban of Hungary (currently leading the NATO members in their visit to Wash D.C. this week) and my current favorite - Nayib Bukele, President of El Salvador who was interviewed by Tucker Carlson a month or so back (Must see). It’s no accident that each has noted high respect for Donald Trump. (makes me smile and think of Bilbo Bagins and his troupe on their adventures out of the shire).

You may find of interest VDH source: “The Power of Myth -The Hero’s Adventure” PBS interview with Joseph Campbell. This was a PBS series back in 1990 or so. There was also a study guide type book that went with it that may be at your library.

The problem with Hanson’s view is that the gunslinger sheriff didn’t finish the job.
