The "abortion after birth" statement was kinda weird. I'm aware of partial birth abortion, but I'm not sure that's what he was talking about.

The other "lies" I saw from Trump were just exaggerations (which he is prone to make). Both Trump and Biden said several things that just aren't true during that debate. But the truth is, Biden lost more votes than Trump as a result of his poor showing.

. Appearing to discuss what would happen if a child was born after a failed attempt at abortion, he said, “the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

Trump referenced VA gov. Northern from a few years ago explaining procedures for killing a newborn, which was very real.

Yes, an abortion can continue after birth. It occurs in this context: Let’s assume a child survives the abortion procedure. Do the doctors and nurses have an obligation to give the same level of care they would to any other newborn? And if they don’t - they help a “wanted” baby live but an “unwanted” baby is ignored and allowed to die. What are the consequences, both civil and criminal? Republicans have tried to add legislation to mandate the babies be treated the same. Dems universally appose this. Some states give immunity to medical professionals who let the “unwanted” baby die where that would not be the case for a “wanted” baby.

Trump did not lie here.

This definitely sounds like After-Birth Abortion to me even though the AP assessed it as a false claim the Governor DID SAY IT and they DID pass the legislation . . .

CLAIM: A video shows Virginia Governor Ralph Northam during a 2019 radio interview speaking in support of infanticide, or “after-birth abortions.”

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. Northam was giving a hypothetical example of what could happen if a mother whose fetus had severe deformities, or wasn’t otherwise viable, requested an abortion while in labor. His comments came in response to a question about whether he supported state legislation that would have loosened restrictions on abortions later in pregnancy. Experts told The Associated Press that abortions in the third trimester are extremely rare.

THE FACTS: Social media users are misrepresenting years old comments Northam made about abortion in Virginia on WTOP, a news radio station serving the Washington Metropolitan area.

“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen,” Northam says in a video from the 2019 interview being shared online. “The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

The Democrat governor of Virginia did sign a law to allow the killing of babies after birth.

Not weird at all! It is in reference to this statement by a former Dem Virginia governor:

ABORTION AFTER BIRTH was supported by the EX Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam who is a doctor when he said...."well, after the baby is born, we can set it aside, make it comfortable, while we decide what to do"!!!

He;s espousing MURDERING THE BABY AFTER IT"S BORN!!!

“Abortion after birth” is a thing. It’s putting a newborn on a steel slab in the hospital, refusing to nourish or touch him, and let him slowly die. Weren’t you around when that dreadful ex-governor of VA was promoting that? The freak was a physician who must’ve said, “First, do no harm” — in the Hippocratic Oath.

It wasn’t. He sourced the statement to the former governor of Virginia, who Trump quoted about setting the baby aside (That, and the case of the father being arrested protesting a school-board coverup of his daughter, and later another girl, being raped in the restroom by a trans kid, were major parts of that Governor losing his election). There were also bills put forward in California to allow abortion up to a week after birth, but AFAIK, those went nowhere - though even presenting them is pretty appalling.
