Vanity: Can Biden legally get off state's ballots?

Watching the news this morning and discussion of the possibility of Biden dropping out, a former congressman (Chafitz) brought up an interesting point.

Biden is on state's ballots. Primaries have been held and the dye is set. There is not a slot for Democrats (or Republican) and they can not add or drop as they need.

At this point in the election process, the only way one can get off the ballot is to die. (Cafitz' point)

Biden has to stay on the ballot as a place holder if for no other reason.

Interesting point. There are many here who are very well versed in the election process. Is Cahfitz' point correct?

My thought is, if so, it will take a challenge of state's election rules to replace him on ballots OR a massive write-in campaign.

I was thinking general election from the ‘ballots’ but I suppose the reference could be to primaries - are there any left?

spit-balling here.
primaries left ? no..he already has enough delegates to be nominated.
We are dealing with RATs. But he first has to be nominated.
He passes on before the convention ?
Would the delegates go rogue ?
If the DNC changes the rules mid-stream, who knows.
If he gets replaced at the DNC Convention,(August 19–22, 2024) they have to let the ballots change.
state level ? sure it is...so was lautenberg - a federal election for senator.
states would sue to have that change made.
Would it be too late to effect the change ?

I don't see anything(except for death) but Pres. Biden being the nominee
