Proofreading/editing is a lost requirement, sad.
I was taught you spell out numbers ten and below. Eleven and above you use the numerals. It does look weird in one sentence.
The reason it looks weird is because it is wrong:
“If two or more related numbers are used in a sentence, one below 10 and one a bigger number, their use should be consistent. They can either be spelled out or written as numerals.“
