First of, nowhere there does it say he renounced it.
I am familiar with the song. did either of you actually listen or read it? The original song is not anti-Russian, but more anti-Cold War. Sting says he doesn't agree with the Russians or the U.S., he just hopes they can find a common ground for peace in wanting a better world for their children.
So, Dfgator, are you saying Sting is renouncing this song - so you think he is advocating or war between the Russians and the West, and that it leads to nuclear war, and a worse world for the children of both sides? Where does he say that?
His information is woefully misguided, as well as, wrong. As the saying goes to the road to Hades is paved with good intentions.
But I never said he refuted it. I presented it only as what dfgator might have been referring to. The song is for those who may have never heard it before.
As for the song, he only mentions I hope the Russians love their children too. But he did manage to include a swipe against Reagan. If it weren't for Boris Johnson this war would have ended almost as soon as it had started. Perhaps he has since renounced his song as being totally off base with reality, I don't know. Only dfgater can say if this is what he was referring to or is there something else out there that the search I did, did not turn that story.
