Dagestan shootings spotlight rising Islamist threat for Putin

President Vladimir Putin says Russia's war in Ukraine is part of an existential struggle with the West that demands total focus — but deadly shootings in Dagestan show that militant Islam is a rising threat that may force him to redirect some of his resources.

The latest violence, in which at least 20 people were killed on Sunday evening in a series of apparently coordinated shootings in Russia's far south, raises awkward questions for its intelligence and security services.

They appear to have been caught off guard at a time when much of their attention is focused on Ukraine and the threat of Ukrainian-linked attacks inside Russia.

"Radical Islamism is again raising its head in Russia," said Sergei Markov, a former Kremlin adviser, who had just returned from a trip to the North Caucasus region.

"It is clear that there is a problem with Islamist terrorism and it is very serious. We need action from the authorities."

The reported involvement of two relatives of a local official who had held a counterterrorism meeting as recently as April, and another attacker's past affiliation with a pro-Kremlin party, have raised fears of infiltration of the local elite.

The attacks in Derbent and Makhachkala, in which a Russian Orthodox priest and at least 15 policemen were killed and a synagogue was burned down, is a blow to Putin's long-standing pledge to the Russian people that he will ensure domestic stability.

It may also prompt a review in Moscow of the way that impoverished majority-Muslim Dagestan is run, according to some experts.

The same region, some 1,600 km south of Moscow, was rocked in October when rioters shouting "Allahu Akbar" or "God is Greatest" stormed an airport to "catch" Jewish passengers on a flight from Tel Aviv.

And 3,2,1 the usuals will appear blaming US and CIA for this.

I have no love for Russia, but the problem is not the CIA. Is is fundamental islam, and Russia is a “federation” held together by fear and intimidation. Now that putin has been forced to pull forces from these regions for his war, his ability to project that control has weakened

Moscow and St. Petersburg and ethnic Russians in the western parts of the country largely benifits from the work and resources of the east, but those easterners see little benifits from this “arrangement”

As putins grip on these regions continues to weaken, there will be much more of this.

Since putin loves to cite history for his actions, that same citations can be used by many especially the Chinese.

I believe that Russia faces less internal strif than these here unUnited States.

They don’t have a Race Baiting Industry. They put with division by the LGBTQXX Anti-Christian self-loathing mentially ill in their population.

The leader in the region now beset by terrorism is a folk hero in Dagestan, and he retired in 1860/70s after leading wars against Russia ending in them joining with his blessing.

Ukrainian ISIS - they are Contractors who carried out the Concert Attack in Moscow’s surburbs a few months ago. Some where captured and gave up their contacts. Some of these contacts have been capture by their special ops and brought back to Russia for further interrogation. At a minimum, Ukraine’s intel directorate planning, finance, and resourced that operation.

Ukrainian officials announced yet again if the battlefield truned against them they would promote terrorism inside Russia and the guy said the boilerplate routine, e.g., that Russia needs to broken up into many parts. British, the Frogs, the Polocks, the Romanians, the Lithuanians and some Americans all repeat the same stuff going back before the war.

ISIS was Obamas documented creation. Hence the C-130s with pallets of cash and even a CIA recruited Osama has-Bin Laden were in the fold.

Simply lobbing munitions into Russia isn’t enough, nor the terrorism either, for the West in it’s quest to defeat Russia as Biden says he will do (Is he an angry old man talking to his donars, or is this president already committed to a real war with Russia?) — Last Russia said they too would counter the US and the West in these various world pursuits. Last week, this week numerous times Russia has done well diplomatically and in world opinion about the whole Switzerland Photo Op for Zelinski, by speaking to the world, offering terms, and saying they are ready to talk (It is easy for Russia to offer negotiations when the West won’t, and they won’t let Ukraine either, neogitiate - and Russia can prosecute their war winning stragety).

Yesterday, they called the US Amb Moscow in on the Red Carpet, handed her a note for the president, informing the US that Russia is no longer in a state of peace. Then she was told that Russia would respond at a time and a place anywhere in the world of their choosing either indirectly through proxies like Ukraine, or by Russian hands.

This resulted in the Pentagon calling the Russian MOD. This is what you call FIRST CONTACT from the US to Russia by the Administration since Biden snubbed Putin’s letter of congratulations immediatley after the election.

Whose bluffing now as they like to say in the West in Regards to Russia.

ISIS was a US tool, it is still on the payroll, and the West has stated over and again, that Terrorism and Missiles will be on the Menu, no peace talks, and they will defeat Russia and impose regime change. Trump having a good pulse and advisors has floated a plan which Ukraine will not accept but Russia will and even should Ukraine sit down to talk, the war will continue on the ground, probably at an increased rate of combat and manuevering for land.

Absent in Trump’s proposal was a need for hositilites to cease during talks. Ukraine is being given just deserves for a country that stabbed Trump in the Back numerous times and with the Impeachment. Ukraine is screwed, blued, and tattooed no matter who is in charge, but this terrorism from Ukraine is something Russia can play too.

My contempt is for all things Obama, Biden, Globalhomoist, and Zeepers.
