DEI hire at “work”…
I had to straighten out a POC today to the tune of a proper return of a $10 dollar bill for a simple transaction.
Decades ago when I went to McDonalds and paid cash, the clerk inputed the amount provided and waited for the cash register to advise the change amount. They were alway amazed that I could do that in my head faster than the machine. And I thought the education system was bad back then……
*Sir, you gave me too much.
Tender it into your machine, it is magic. You will give me a ten and two quarters back.
*How did you know that?
I did school.
Worse, if you tell them how much you are giving them so to not get a bunch of coins back and they screw that up by not counting correctly and you get 99 cents back.
When ever I have a number of coins or bills I always assist by counting out stacks. Makes everyone feel better about the count.
Common courtesy.
Young people haven’t been able to count back change for a long time.
Twenty years ago we were checking out at a fast food place when the power went out. The clerk’s drawer was open, and he counted out change without missing a beat. Zip zip zip.
I asked, “Home schooled?”
“Yes.”
Another reason TPTB want to do away with cash.
What does this Ken expect to accomplish at a Walmart? He’s being a complete douche. They both are.
Maybe she doesn’t know how
This isn’t new. I’ve not had anyone count my change back to me in 25+ years, at least. The register tells the checkout person or cashier how much change you have coming, which is handed to you in a wad, and that’s it. I shudder to think of the scenes we’d have if the register DIDN’T do all the math for them.

I wonder why......
Nothing teaches a child how to count and add/subtract change such as being given a penny bank at a young age. About the time they learn that money buys stuff they start learning to count and add how much money they need to reach a goal.
My husband would leave his change in a certain spot in the house and when the grandkids came in they would run to be the first to the money. They quickly learned to count how much was there and divvy it up among themselves.
What a cringe video. The dude was really being a donkey here, from the way he was talking to her to putting it on the Internet.
I had a girl “get her manager” at Krispy Kreme because I paid for half of my order in change.
She was freaked out by the “states” quarters and did not think they were money, plus she had to count.
I had to go back and give a white teen cashier at Culver’s 10 bucks back because she in put $50 instead of $40 in the machine, realized her mistake, and asked a POC to help. They whipped out a phone with a calculator, and still got it wrong even though I told them point blank to just take the $10 back. I would hate to be the manager trying to balance the till at the need of the night.
I’ve experienced that a couple of times dealing with cashiers. Thanks for posting.
I never saw where he told Whoopi she lied too much. I did see where he said it at a press conference...
I’m old enough to have used an old-fashioned cash register where we had to count the change back. It was my very first job. The registers that told you how much change to give back were around but not everybody had them yet.
None of my co-workers or I (we were all in high school) found it difficult at all.
