or they will inevitably state “25 minutes”.

Offer them a job. 8 hours = 800 minutes work :D

Just make sure its not a job counting money, LMAO

"We were taught how to hand change back by counting up from the purchase price. No cash register in those days told you what the change was supposed to be. It only rang up the sale price."

Same here, as I wrote in post #38 above. Making change was easy when we dealt with cash and paper. I worked at places that didn't even use cash registers. The price was written on paper. We counted the change from the price up to the amount of tender from the customer.

But, some years ago, I took a P/T job at a store. Now, the cash registers are a computer system. At that store, once we input the amount of tender from the customer, the monitor would no longer show the price.

No, both are entombed above ground, not buried, like Napoleon in Paris, the Pharaohs of Egypt, and quite a few of the dead of old New Orleans.

The guy made a 2minute video. Spent probably 20 minutes getting it on youtube and then time here. In 20 seconds he could have solved the problem at the counter and told the gal have a nice day and moved on. Douche.

What a cringe video. The dude was really being a donkey here, from the way he was talking to her to putting it on the Internet.

I had a girl “get her manager” at Krispy Kreme because I paid for half of my order in change.
She was freaked out by the “states” quarters and did not think they were money, plus she had to count.

I had to go back and give a white teen cashier at Culver’s 10 bucks back because she in put $50 instead of $40 in the machine, realized her mistake, and asked a POC to help. They whipped out a phone with a calculator, and still got it wrong even though I told them point blank to just take the $10 back. I would hate to be the manager trying to balance the till at the need of the night.

I think we learned that in 6th grade. Used it all the time when a waitress.

I’ve experienced that a couple of times dealing with cashiers. Thanks for posting.

I never saw where he told Whoopi she lied too much. I did see where he said it at a press conference...

:-) The store where I worked used an old computer system. I doubt stores use that kind of system now, but that experience taught me a lesson.

As customers, we all know the price to the penny, right? If we’re charged incorrectly, we’re all mathematicians at the customer service desk. The math is quick and easy in our heads.

But, on the other side of the counter, when we’re responsible for the store’s money, there’s an element of stress. We have to worry about thieves and flimflam artists.

As a customer, I once patiently explained something simple to a store manager for half an hour. She was always quick and bright. She could see the price on her computer. But, that day, she just looked confused. I didn’t get angry because I could see she was stressed out that day.

That one time, when I was ringing up a customer, I was the one whose brain froze. After the price disappeared, the customer said she changed her mind. Now, she wanted to give me a larger bill, some smaller bills, and some change, and she said I should give her a certain amount back. When I stopped to think, she got angry, and my brain shut down.

Of course, it doesn’t explain everything. Maybe some cashiers really don’t know how to count change.

I’m old enough to have used an old-fashioned cash register where we had to count the change back. It was my very first job. The registers that told you how much change to give back were around but not everybody had them yet.

None of my co-workers or I (we were all in high school) found it difficult at all.
