As Ukraine War Persists, Many Russians See Their Hopes Of Gas Heating Going Up In Smoke

Some 12 kilometers from Minusinsk, near the settlement of Bystraya, is one of many locations in Russia's eastern regions where natural gas bubbles up out of the ground. In the summer, locals bring sausages and other food to cook over the open "eternal flames." Although Russia is a global leader in the production of natural gas, millions of residents of its coldest, easternmost regions remain unconnected to gas lines.

. Across the region each winter, officials regularly issued air-quality warnings because of the smog from burning coal. In 2021, children from Minusinsk donned gas masks and recorded video appeals in which they begged Putin to do something about their community's "black skies."

In 2023, Russia was selling gas to China for $257 per 1,000 cubic meters, while Europe and Turkey were paying $320.

...it is now necessary to consider alternative ways" of reducing the harm from coal heating, including developing electric heating or more modern coal furnaces.

A resident of the city of Krasnoyarsk agreed, noting the authorities have also been building a subway system in the city since 1995.

"You can see how they are 'building' us a metro and 'bringing' us gas," he said. "We are a city of 1 million people, a region that sends more money to Moscow than it takes. We are pumping gas to China, while we ourselves breathe coal smoke."

#1,006 of why the Russian Federation is a failure and cracking at the borders. The money and the gas pipelines all made it to Moscow/St Petersburg?

Kinda like Uncle Jed trying to plant corn on top of that Texas Tea. The poor, poor Russians, if only they had a LA lifestyle and LA air to breath.

“As Ukraine War Persists, Many Russians See Their Hopes Of Gas Heating Going Up In Smoke”

And thanks to the Neocons the effect on electricity availability in Ukraine will be 100 TIMES WORSE. And even Europe is watching their huge gas storage facilities in Ukraine being demolished, so they may have a cold winter also, thanks to the Neocons.

People trying to dunk on Russia for reasons of logistics always seem to forget how big it is.

The distance between Moscow and Krasnoyarsk is 4,140 kilometers, or over 2,500 miles.

Between Minusinsk and Moscow is 4,278 km, or over 2,650 miles.

It would be like dunking on America for not having a natural gas pipeline connecting Washington D.C. to Seattle.

DC is downhill from all the states.

I’m so confused. Is WEF/CIA saying that global warming is a hoax and that filthy russkies are going to freeze? Having a superabundance of hydrocarbons as they do?

Maybe they could have said a word about EU unity, too.

.

Russia overtook US as gas supplier to Europe in May

"Europe’s gas imports from Russia overtook supplies from the US for the first time in almost two years in May, despite the region’s efforts to wean itself off Russian fossil fuels since the full scale invasion of Ukraine.

While one-off factors drove the reversal, it highlights the difficulty of further reducing Europe’s dependence on gas from Russia, with several eastern European countries still relying on imports from their neighbour.

“It’s striking to see the market share of Russian gas and [liquefied natural gas] inch higher in Europe after all we have been through, and all the efforts made to decouple and de-risk energy supply,” said Tom Marzec-Manser, head of gas analytics at consultancy ICIS."

—”local corruption”

Gazprom CEO is Putin’s close friend and oligarch Alexei Miller, who manages most of the gravy from his mega-mansion near Moscow.

He does not allow local corruption, he owns ALL of it.

Such hyperbole is equivalent to saying that the Biden Administration “owns all” corruption in America.

Best always to get your own information. And make sure it dates before 2022.

Here is a tourist vid of Krasnoyarsk, noted in the article, and this was uploaded in 2021.

No, there are winter vids of that city if you want to look for them. They all have steam rising from the river.

And the smoke coming out of smokestacks is white.

The young lady who makes Yakutsk vids are interesting. The city heat is from steam created by burning coal — which is local in coal mines.

You can find this sort of info in the bible of energy I have linked so often.

Those mines are near Yakutsk and Krasnoyarsk. About 1/10th of Russian joules are in coal form and 66% of it is domestic consumption — which is also information available from the relevant spreadsheet people really should be studying.
