Wild pigs are a problem everywhere and some states have open season.
They were first brought by the Spanish and of course they escaped as pigs do. Many of them have bred with the British “pink” pigs and produce a hideous looking but huge critter.
I live in Florida in an area that has them and I’m very careful. I turned around and came back on a trail just yesterday after I saw that it was covered with huge hog prints!
On the other hand, some of the pure pata negra Spanish pigs would make wonderful ham. The problem is our hot, damp climate. We have the pigs and we need to find some way to do this!
The Romans brought them to the holy land, so they could feast and party as the Romans are famous for. They’ve been here ever since. Lebanon is welcome to them.
