The progressive point it to create a new and perhaps modern Utopian Culture. To do so, the Victorian/Christian American culture must be erased.

I think you're on the right track, but you're giving the intellectually lacking American "progressives" far too much credit. They're even stupider than you suggest. Yeah, I know, some of them managed to get through college, and take a look at those colleges!
