Amid a rise in both positive and negative discourse surrounding the WNBA, Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark addressed recent comments regarding her name being used for racism and misogyny.
The remarks may have been prompted from a Thursday afternoon post by Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington, who responded to Clark's previous comments that she is strictly focused on basketball.
Later on, following the Fever's practice, she responded to the recent backlash.
"It's disappointing. I think everyone in our world deserves the same amount of respect," Clark said. "The women around our league deserve the same amount of respect. People should not be using my name to push those agendas."

She seems to be the best female basketball player ever.
But who cares.
I don’t even care about real basketball.
Nobody deserves respect.
Stockholm Syndrome
Right? The only racists in the league are the petty black dykes. Id they succeed in driving Clarke out of the game, I hope the league fails.
I hear ya, and agree to some extent. But these reporters would just love to play “gotcha” with her. They’re throwing this crap at her along the lines of “What do you think about all the white racists and homophobes out there who have seized upon your success to disparage the wonderful black lesbians who’ve pioneered the WNBA?” What’s she supposed to say? “Well, I take my fans where i can get ‘em and thank ‘em for their support!”? No, there’s no upside to arguing with the narrative here. She took the high road, and I can understand that.
Absolutely true... Respect is earned, it's not doled out to everyone for no reason. What everyone starts with in a sane world is indifference and then we go from there. I'm sure lots of people will not understand what I'm saying and will take this the wrong way.
Some people end up not deserving any respect of any kind. It's just that kind of world, and it's realist to know that.
Does that also include church goers and gun owners?
Yeah I don't remember Tiger Woods getting this treatment.

Tangentially related is how the media was baiting Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla with the two black coaches in final tripe, overcoming racism bull jive, etc. Mazzulla jammed it down the media goons throat with a simple, How many were Christians?
My point is, don’t let the goons frame the debate. Caitlin did a good job.
So she’s bashing those who are defending her. She’s going to lost my respect real soon. She’s going woke.
Respect must be earned and no, all men and women are not created physically equal.
You deserve respect if u earn it
Apparently a lot of black players and sports media are jelly and resentful that a white girl has stolen their thunder
A thunder that never existed honestly
And black players punishing her for that is ok
If you point it out you’re racist now
She should stick with her vague accolades and platitudes and play
Did whites hate Lewis Hamilton for being black
No it’s because he was unlikable and arrogant
Same as the black nascar nutter who went all in on noose mania
Or she fears violent retribution that would end her career.
Even worse, they think of Basketball as a Black sport, no Whites allowed.
Only Basketball-Americans care about this drama.
From a PR perspective, what should she have said?
Yes, Caitlin Clark, everyone deserves respect.
But their ideas and words certainly don’t necessarily deserve respect. As you can testify to.
>>>From a PR perspective, what should she have said?>>>
The same thing Elvis said when asked about the war in Vietnam. “Maam, I just a singer, I keep my opinions to myself”.....sort of thing. Her game is her PR. She’s getting dragged into it and if she goes woke......it’s all over for her. Elvis knew this.....Michael Jordan knows it......Tiger Woods knows it.....heck, even OJ knew it. I like what he used to say.....”I’m not black...I’m OJ.”
“Deserves respect” is just the continuation of the “me” as the center of the universe mentality. It’s people saying that just because they exist, you have to respect them. Honestly, it’s mostly blacks that I have heard this from. They claim they’re being “disrespected”. I was raised that you had to earn respect in life because no one was going to give it to you. It isn’t free.
