Memphis Police said the road dispute happened just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 at I-240 and Lamar Avenue in Midtown.
A woman told investigators that she was driving in her 2012 Mercedes-Benz GL550 on the interstate when a Chevrolet Cobalt pulled up besides her and accused her of cutting them off, court records allege.
This was when the Chevrolet driver followed the Mercedes' "every move through traffic" on the interstate, records show. The driver of the Chevrolet then got close to the Mercedes and pointed a gun.
The woman told investigators that she heard up to five gunshots, with one hitting the rear tire on the passenger side of the Mercedes, making her car difficult to drive, records show. But the woman managed to get off the interstate and drive to the 2700 block of South Third Street, where she got out of her Mercedes.
According to court documents, the Chevrolet driver followed the woman, got out of her car and chased the woman around a building with a handgun.
The woman escaped after flagging down a bystander and got into their car records show. The driver of Chevrolet then got back into her car and left.
Records show that the driver of the Mercedes was able to get the license plate number of the Chevrolet Cobalt during the road rage incident.
Investigators obtained video of the dispute and received several CrimeStoppers tips identifying Wheeler as the suspect following media reports on the shooting, court documents say.
A day after the road rage dispute, investigators tracked Wheeler to a home in Parkway Village and the driver of Mercedes identified her as the shooter on I-240, records show.
A court date was for Wheeler has not been set.
A for effort, F for execution.
Saw her Facebook page. Was not surprised that she writes at a sub-third grade level.
B-B-But officer, she disrespected me!
A real water buffalo.
So a Chevrolet Cobalt accused her of something. Must be a clone of "K.I.T.T.," the talking, sentient automobile from "Knight Rider."
And "K.I.T.T." also uses the pluralis majestatis ("royal we").
