A Virginia state trooper was sent flying to the ground after a drunk driver slammed into her patrol car during a separate DUI stop -- and the whole thing was caught on video.

This all unfolded when Trooper C. Aziz responded to a sedan stopped in a lane on Interstate 495 Tuesday in Fairfax County ... and as you can see from the cop's dashcam, she's at the driver's window attempting to coax her to exit the vehicle or move it to the shoulder.

Drunks like this should do minimum 10 years hard time. No excuse for this deadly behavior.

I believe, for obvious safety reasons, it’s SOP for LE officers to move to the passenger side of a vehicle when contacting the driver, especially on a busy roadway.

I travel I35 in Texas daily, I never see our troopers on the drivers side. Of course they could only be showing the accident, she may have made contact on the passenger side already.

I believe people who are voluntarily under the influence of a recreational drug ought to be held as having premeditated any crime they then commit, while under that drug.

Every harmful action they do is therefore malicious.

Reminds me of a few years back in Austin when a cop pulled over a drunk driver, and another drunk driver hit the cop car and then the cop calls an ambulance, ambulance pulls up, and ANOTHER drunk hits the ambulance.

Must have been a hell of a night

A person around Denver, CO rammed a family car while drunk, killing two. They are getting 20 years.

Not enough for essentially murdering two people.

Unless it was an illegal.
They get to walk.

No disagreement.

While I frequently have problems with a priori restraint laws, I have ZERO issues with harsh penalties for actual damage done.

“Flying”?

She’s lucky she didn’t get squished, but that wasn’t what I would consider “flying”...

As for the drunk that hit her squad? Throw the entire book at them.

If it was an illegal? Hit them with a fast moving squad car. Kinda Biblical that way...
