WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — When two friends took a walk on the Kent Trails in Wyoming, Michigan, Sunday with their children, they never expected it to lead to a police report and a viral video.
The men, who asked their names not be shared due to the attention the confrontation is receiving online, say a cyclist they encountered on the trails hit one of them in the face, cursed at them and told them to put one of their children on a leash.
One of the men had his 3-year-old son and 4-month-old daughter with him on the walk. His friend, who was visiting from Detroit, was with his 2-year-old. They were both pushing strollers, with the toddlers climbing in and out at various times.
The father of the 3-year-old said they were on their way back home after stopping at a park, and the kids had “reached their limit.”
“We had made sure to stop for other people who were on bikes. We have been pretty aware of that. We had to pull over to the side, grab our kids, hold their hands just to make sure they go by. We had actually just done that for a couple of other cyclists when this man approached us,” the friend who recorded the video said.
That man rode up as the 3-year-old sat down in the middle of the trail, according to the two friends.
“At that point, you know, my mind is like, OK, just stay put. Because, you know, if I run out in front of the cyclist, that’s a danger. If the kid runs out, that’s a danger, because where’s the cyclist going to go?” the 3-year-old’s father said.
The friends say the cyclist began cursing at the 3-year-old, telling him to get out of the way.

Typical spandex crowd that thinks they own the trails and the roads. Most of these idiots play by their own rules, fail to obey any traffic rules and it’s all about them.
I hope that cyclist gets hit by a car like he deserves.
They all deserve to be run over.
I thought the rule was that bikes yield to pedestrians?
Is that a trail for cyclists only?
Around here, many of the cyclists are fags. They’re very uptight.
Not all of the spandex crowd is rude.
I'm also a road biker and ride with the same approach to walkers and cars.
Actually in another video a news lady said cyclist have to yield to pedestrians so I would assume that would include a three year old that just sat down in the middle of the trail like three year olds tend to do.

I know it’s “not all” but the majority that break the rules give all of them a bad name.
Bikers are uptight because it can be a very dangerous sport.
BTW, I don't bike around automobiles. I ride at state parks where there are no cars. And I ride on trails where there are very few hikers.
Cyclist deserved to get his ass kicked.
Sorry, but I’ve had it with these spandex a-holes. Too bad the video blurred the face of the Spandex Nazi. The whole world needs to SEE who this “tough guy” is that yells at 3-yr olds.
Congrats dad for not letting this get out of hand. I would be jail right now.
And he’ll have the audacity to be surprised when someone shoots him. Wonder who he is? He had that persona that some guys get where they think they are a drill instructor and you are supposed to be an intimidated recruit. He had that cop, or just fresh out of the Army manner of speaking.
I cannot explain this.
Keep your dog out of their way too it flips them out
I don’t know. When you’re on a multi-use trail you need to keep in mind there’s mixed traffic, and others can’t always see what your kid or pet is doing. You probably shouldn’t yell at the kid, but as a parent it’s your responsibility to keep them safe, which includes not letting them volunteer to get run over by a bike. I got yelled at by a dog owner once because his dog ran right at front tire when I came out of a blind corner, a tight blind corner so I wasn’t going fast. When on a multi-use trail control your dogs, control your kids, and control yourself.
Is that reason #7694 to absolutely hate cyclists?
These assh*les (along with the ‘one wheelers’) are all over the road/trails in East Tennessee...sharing the road with 18-wheelers the way they do isn’t going to end well.
All bicyclists deserve to be run over? Really?
Pedestrians have the right of way. Period.
A stick to the spokes should do it.
