I always thought the Polio vax was a “good” vax, effective, etc.
A couple of years ago I read “The Moth in the Iron Lung” by Forest Maready who makes a strong case that the cause of Polio was DDT/pesticides in the food system, and when DDT was banned before the vax was available the Polio rates fell. There is also a very good, controversial book, “The River,” that argues that the Belgian Congo oral polio vaccines used chimps, not green monkeys and that their tissue gave rise to SIV that jumped to humans.
“… the cause of Polio was DDT/pesticides…”
No. The cause of polio is the polio virus.
DDT was banned in 1972
The Polio vaccine was 20 years before that in the early 1950s.
Nearly 20 years of faulty medical protocols built of #FakeScience. Didn’t practitioners realize their treatment regimens were ineffective, and absolutely no one was getting better?
DDT was banned in the 70s. There were some limitations on its usage in the late 50s and 60s but no outright ban till later. The gov't was still using it until 1970.
There were major polio outbreaks in the early 1900s which is when FDR caught it. DDT wasn’t in use as an insecticide until the 1940s.
Your timeline is way off. DDT was first created in 1874, but first used in 1939 and would’ve taken years to build up in the environment. There was a major polio outbreak in 1916. Polio’s worst outbreak peaked was 1952... slightly before the polio vaccine was released (1955), but polio cases bounced up and down a LOT. DDT was banned in 1973, and its use barely declined prior to 1970.
The many replies pointing out the timeline that renders the book’s claim as specious should cause you to be suspicious of any other claims the author has made. Just sayinn.
The polio vaccine was available in the mid 1950s...
DDT wasn’t banned until the mid 1970s.

Wonderful book. AIDS was a huge medical "Accident" which will probably claim about 100 million deaths worldwide when all is said and done.
