A small town in Maine held its first ever Pride event where a lewdly-named drag queen performed in front of children.
Letta Dicken, the self-proclaimed number one plus size drag queen in the state, lip-synced to songs and read books at Windham-Raymond's Pride celebration on Sunday.
The scheduled drag performances were cancelled before the event after organizers received pushback from the community and threats were made to the entertainers.
However, Letta was undeterred and gave a performance inside the gym to an audience filled with kids and their parents.
Wearing a blonde wig and sparkly rainbow jumpsuit, she lip-synced to three songs including one called 'Drag Queens Save the World,' reported the Portland Press Herald.
One of the songs had the lyrics 'the hips on the drag queen go swish, swish, swish, all through the town.'
Letta also joined the Windham Public Library children's room coordinator Alexis Handelman in a story time.
'I found it really important to show up and be visible and help lift up not only the Windham and Raymond queer community, but also this organization, which has gone through a lot of challenges to get to where they are today,' Letta told the Press Herald.
'I wanted to help get out the message that love is louder than hate.'

Just took a quick look at Maine’s laws.
Looks like they’re written to be pretty lax.
Even if LE wanted to do something, in this case it looks like they can’t.
Maine has RCV for very good reason, doesn’t it...
“Dixit” is a legitimate Indian (subcontinent type) family name.
“Richard”, and its diminutives, along with “Peter” are legitimate English language personal names.
Or the public library’s children’s room coordinator?

Agree I’ve noticed many parents that look like they shouldn’t be tats face jewelry stoned slobs that look like they wash once a month................................................
