No.
This is such a Boomer cope by Hanson.
The idea that it was all good until The Demon Obama came along is simply nonsense, and absolves Boomers of their huge role in America’s decline over the last 30 years.
Massive Third World Immigration restarted in the 1960’s. The initial de-industrialization also started then as well. De-Industrialization accelerated in the 1980’s, along with financialization and massive trade deficits.
De-Industrialization was supercharged in the 1990’s with NAFTA and then MFN and WTO for China.
The seeds of the financial crisis came with the late 90’s repeal of Glass Steagal and the promotion of subprime and minority mortgages.
The 1980’s surge in illegals was amnestied by Reagan. There was another huge surge in the 1990’s after NAFTA was passed and the peso collapsed. Bush pushed his own Amnesty along with doing nothing to close the border.
The Bush War on Terror created the current day surveillance state. Both Afghanistan and Iraq were unretrievable failures by the end of the Bush Presidency.
Obama, far from “transforming” America was just along for the ride. It was almost all baked in the cake before he even got there. Even ObamaCAre can no longer be laid entirely on Obama, since the Repubs had the opportunity to repeal it and chose not to.
I believe those things got firmly-entrenched under those men
“Enemy of the State” was pretty good - 1998, though
Thank Meghan McCain’s dad for that.

The first national election that Boomers could vote in was 1968, and we elected the “Law and Order” ticket, Nixon/Agnew. Then re-elected them in a huge landslide. most of the worst damage was done by then, the Great Society, the 1965 Immigration Act that you’re crabbing about among them. Yes, we have some blame to share but every generation had a share in it.
Yes, sir. Obama was building on a fiendish foundation laid down by his predecessors. He was either their agent or the agent of their masters. It may not be going too far to suggest that showcasing Obama as some kind of unique evil ironically perpetuates his mission of divide and conquer.
Sigh - why not go back to Adam and Eve and then lay it on God?
Evil leverages our innate evil and takes advantage when and where it can...
I see what you’re saying but look at your points here.. lots of “this/that happened..” - I’ve noticed took place in the 90’s. Clinton territory. They really got serious about it during his run.
Yep, the pillars of our working society were being hollowed out for years, decades..
In my opinion, 0bama was the one they appointed to start ‘pushing on the pillars’ - after they’d been hollowed out sufficiently. He was appointed to start the tumbling, destruction process. It’s been an avalanche ever since.
I’m a boomer, and I need to cope a lot, so I’ll give VDH a pass. But I think it happened somewhat earlier than you point out here. I think Eisenhower saw it and warned us. It comes out of the arrogance of power that developed after we won WW2. We began constructing theories and testing them out, moving pieces around the board, and with our financial and military power were able to begin creating an elite intelligentsia that would eventually result in an elitist empire. The rest flowed right out of that.
