“I Wanna Be a Producer” is a really fun song.
So is “The Transylvania Mania” from the musical of Young Frankenstein.
When my big old Tomcat was a wee kitten, I used to cradle him in my arms and sing ‘If I Loved You’ to him. He LOVED it!
Now? Not so much. “MOM! You’re embarrassing me in front of The Guys!”
Another good Lullaby is the Lana Del Rey version of ‘Once Upon a Dream:’

(I think this was originally from the Disney movie version of ‘Cinderella.’ Can’t remember. And, yes. I know we’re supposed to all hate Disney...)
The list does seem weak to me...Not because it didn't contain one of my top songs; but old chestnuts, other than #2, such as < I> You'll Never Walk Alone, Climb Ev'ry Mountain etc. didn't get a mention.
The best songs were from The Music Man, but. you gotta know the territory.
“A Simple Little System” from “Bells ar Ringing.
A bunch of Bookies cook up a scheme to encode the names of racetracks with Classical Composers.
Who is Handel?
Haialeah Haialliah!
LOL. :-)
Yes, that’s great. A BRILLIANT opening number. Heart that show to the max!
I think this is just a list of what they think are the best 50 songs, don’t think it’s ranked. Usually if you are doing a ranking list you’d start at the bottom.
I did read the intro carefully, but it does not really specify.
But, here’s vid of the best version ever of “You’ll never walk alone”. A song I never really “got”. I always thought it was rather trite.
But, the greatest thing about Marcus Mumford’s version here is now I do get it, even though I still think it’s trite! This is a true work of performance art. And hang on for cranky mum at the end!

Number 1 through 50 and you’re listing 1 through 50. Offering it in reverse order doesn’t change anything one way or another.
When will thou save the people, Oh, God of Mercy, when?
Thy people, Lord, the people. Not thrones and crowns, but men?
Flowers of thy heart Oh God art they?
Shall they not pass like weeds away?
Shall crime bring crime forever,
Strength aiding still the strong?
Is it thy will, o Father,
That men shall toil for wrong?
“No”, say thy mountains; “No”, say thy skies;
Man’s clouded sun shall brightly rise,
And songs be heard instead of sighs.
God save the people.
His brother Arthur was also a musician who referred to himself as "the evil of two Loessers."
Flew to Japan last month. Watching Les Miz on the plane helped be kill almost three hours. Then I watched Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Jarring contrast.
“their license plates quote Hammerstein: ‘Oklahoma is OK’.”
We drive through WV once or twice a year. I think it’s nice that their toll booths say, “Almost Heaven”, from John Denver’s song.
Too many tie for #1.
The list is the equivalent of someone who is REALLY into baseball who makes a list of the greatest players and has a bunch of guys from the minor leagues and Negro leagues on it. It MIGHT be technically correct - it is opinion after all - but most fans would look at the list and go “who is that?”
I’ve been a Broadway fan my whole life and maybe 25% of those songs I’ve barely heard once. There are, however, MANY songs not on that list that, and were it mine, would include...
“Money” from Cabaret
“Comedy Tonight” from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
“Sunrise, Sunset” from Fiddler on the Roof
“Tradition” from Fiddler on the Roof
“On the Street Where You Live” from My Fair Lady
“Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera
“Jesus Christ Superstar” from Jesus Christ Superstar
“The Impossible Dream” from Man of La Mancha
“Maria” from West Side Story
“My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music
“Oh What a Beautiful Morning” from Oklahoma
“Cell Block Tango” from Chicago
I could go on...
Amen...

Seems someone should’ve mentioned Jesus Christ Superstar. Had a lot of great songs, I thought.
Broadway sure could knock ‘em out.

Hippie Prisoner–“You mean you don’t dig Jesus Christ Superstar?!”
Archie Bunker – “Jesus Christ I dig and I dug him a long time before you weirdos turned him into a superstar.”
