Relaxing. Nice.

My go-to relaxation music is “Dave Brubeck Quartet: Bossa Nova USA.”

Or any time you’re feeling somber.

I saw DBQ around 69, or just before Desmond died. Got to go backstage with Morello who was amazing. My hero as a jazz drummer.

You can find “The Rhythm of History,” which is my autobiography, on Amazon.

I’m a nobody from a tiny AZ town with a ranch foreman for a dad. Yet somehow I managed
*To meet and interview over 50 rock and roll and jazz stars
*Open for Steppenwolf & the James Gang & Savoy Brown & have the Who sit through our set at the Troubadour
*See DBQ before Paul Desmond died; see Hendrix 2x, and Cream once
*Interview George “Shadow” Morton, at one time one of the great rock producers
*Introduce William F. Buckley, Jr. at a speech
*Give a van ride to Merle Haggard and the Outlaws and Beverly Sills to a Reagan event (where I came within feet of shaking Reagan’s hand). Sat in front of Fred McMurray and saw Bo Derek, live
*Meet at least five geniuses
*Race cars (seriouos cars)
*Be a high school debate coach at 2 different schools with state finalist teams
*Almost drown twice
*Meet Betty White, say hi to Groucho Marx, meet Lou Rawls, Gabe Kaplan, and Jim McQuinn
*Slept while my bandmates interviewed with K.C. and the Sunshine Band; was fired from my own band 2x for being too loud
*Had two naked groupies tossed into my bed and told them I needed my sleep
*Coached an NCAA Div. 3 men’s basketball team
*Taught 7th grade reading; taught at 2 different universities
*Won the national prize for best student paper in America . . .twice . . . then won the price for best dissertation in economic history.
*Stood in a small room with 5 Nobel prize winners in economics, debated Milton Friedman on a barge on the Danube
*Tried to sleep across the alley from the Hofbrau Haus in Munich
*Instructed Russkie/Commie economists on how to shift to a free market
*Wrote the definitive histories of the Trident Sub program and the X-30 experimental aircraft program.
*Published a dozen books on banking and financial history without ever having had a class in business, banking, or finance.
*Made 2 documentary movies
*Was at the last ever Friends of Abe BBQ in California
*Was interviewed by Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Dennis Prager
*Had a NYT #1 bestselling book
*Met President G. W. Bush in the Oval Office where we talked for an hour
*Taught high-impact aerobics during the Jamie Lee Curtis aerobics phase
*Met Iranian heavy metal musicians and the “Bob Dylan of Islam.”
*Went into debt almost $1m dollars and got out
*Met and interviewed Erma Bombeck
*Became friends with “Mattress Mack” Macinvale, who won the largest wager in U.S. sports historoy ($77m)

Whew. That was before lunch.
